Ghostly started with a question: what if a public key could be an address?
Not one controlled by a company. Just a key, discoverable through a network nobody owns.
That's Pkarr. I saw it up close at Synonym, and the idea never left my head.
While I was working with Pkarr, I wanted to understand the DNS side of it better.
That led me to build Selfie Records, a small experiment that linked a domain to Nostr keys, PGP keys and BOLT12 offers through BIP 353.
At first it was mostly a way for me to learn how these pieces fit together.
Then it hit me: if I could publish those records this way, they could carry much more than identity and payment information.
So one weekend I built a tiny chat directly on top of the DHT.
It worked. Ghostly was born.
Then came the criticism: this would never scale.
And they were right.
Every message had to fit inside 1,000 bytes. No photos, no files, no calls.
Years around Bitcoin, layer twos and drivechains taught me to think in bridges.
What if the DHT wasn't where the conversation happened, but just where two peers agreed on how to meet?
Now that tiny message negotiates the real connection: WebRTC, Iroh, HyperDHT.
And when nothing else works, the DHT is still there.
The first chat never went away.
From there came files, calls, payments, identity proofs, games, even sharing your localhost with a friend.
None of it started from scratch.
Pkarr, the Mainline DHT, the libraries and the relays were built by people who believe in an open internet.
I just wanted to see what else they could hold.
A thousand bytes. Endless ways to meet. 👻

REMINDER: New Bitcoin Hardfork **Oct 31** !
- After two successful test networks (Aug 23, Sept 20), the real network is ready to go.
- Full node software available NOW.
- Pre-trading (via a wrapped token) is LIVE.
Details below...
BREAKING: New Bitcoin Fork
I am helping create a **new Bitcoin Hardfork** -- dropping this August, called "eCash".
- Your coins will split. For example, if you have 4.19 BTC, then you will get 4.19 eCash.
- You may sell your eCash -- or keep it. Or ignore it!
Vegas:
- Yes, I will be in Vegas next week.
- No, I won't mention this, on stage -- (that would be rude).
Our L1 Node...
- is a near-copy of Bitcoin Core.
- is Sha256d mined.
- forks via a one-time difficulty-reset -- to its minimum value. (So, mining will be crazy at first.)
- Yes, we will change the seed nodes, the name, the network magic, etc.
Codewise, the L1 will remain compatible with Bitcoin Core:
- We will continue to merge their changes (even the bad ones).
- The L1 will activate Bip300/301 via CUSF -- the core untouched soft fork. So, no lines of code will be changed, on the L1.
- The activation client will be published periodically (link below).
- We will do several bug bounty contests this summer.
- The client will be frozen 30 days prior to the fork.
Yes, there will be Drivechains:
- We have 7 in developement right now.
- Users can also submit their own.
- Drivechain is a vision of "competing L2s" -- this avoids the "dev capture" problem.
- These L2s are all Merged Mined. Miners automatically get free $.
- Our L2s are already capable of planetary scale, and onboarding 8 billion users.
- We also have a zCash-like L2, with strong privacy.
- Other L2s: Truthcoin (Prediction Markets), CoinShift (Decentralized Exchange), BitAssets (NFT etc), BitNames (Identity), Photon (Quantum Resistant).
Unlike BCH (the 2017 fork):
- There is no "Bitcoin" in the name. New name, new brand.
- You are getting advanced warning (4 months).
- We are replaying all txns (at first). We will release a coin-splitter tool.
- This is a permanent & sustainable fix to Bitcoin's problems (instead of a 1 MB to 8 MB temporary fix).
- Back in 2017, the BTC tech stack was strong, and expectations for Lightning were strong. Today, it is the reverse.
Video to follow.

"Forgive me father for I have sinned."
"Go on my son."
"This week I accidentally referred to Bitcoin as Bitcoin and not Spamcoin as instructed."
“You are forgiven. This time. Now go say an Our Father Luke, a Hail Kratter and a Glory Be to Mechanic.” 😂

MAJOR BREAKING -- Carney’s gov. called a senior Quebec official in early September, demanded a camera-free “neutral location,” banned his phone, then handed over DARC think-tank papers proposing the US openly fund the PQ to split Canada.
It spooked them so BAD, the CAQ Quebec government held a meeting with CSIS this week, and now the media in a frenzy.
Here's the thing, though:
DARC is a PRIVATE US based think-tank. Who cares what they think?
Its not the US government.
I think Carney is trying to spook Quebecers into NOT voting for the PQ.
Never would the sort of stuff the $XBT/Bitcoin Blake2b folks are pulling fly on the Bitcoin chain. Reward confiscation, penalty periods, fly-by-night soft forks that activate less than 24 hours after release at 0% activation levels. github.com/bitcoinknots/bitc…
ePool.cash is ready for the #eCash hard fork on Saturday! Point your rigs now and pool will auto switch from Bitcoin Mainnet to eCash at harfork height - Datum, miner issued votes, sidechains, etc. Ready to fork @ 967680. @CoineliusX @LayerTwoLabs @crypto_0ptimist
#eCash Betanet launches on September 19th. I am hosting a very innovative pool for eCash that fullyy supports BIP300/301 mechanisms. ePool.cash - Datum, miner issued votes, sidechains, etc. Ready to fork @ 967680.

BEHOLD THE PIZZAXE 🍕⛏️
I HAVE HARNESSED SHA-256d TO MAXIMIZE FRESHNESS.
A liquid-cooled Bitaxe GT 801 heats my pizza bag while mining bitcoin.
Not a product, just an engineer left unsupervised.
FRESH HASH. HOT CHEESE. ZERO RESTRAINT.
Breaking! PoW is no longer mining as per their archbishop @LukeDashjr 🤡Insane disingenuity levels leading to Discord votes on: Address blacklisting at consensus level, reward confiscation, maturity changes, issuance alteration. There's even a PR for a change to Proof of Discord
Just found the PR for proof of discord: github.com/bitcoinknots/bitc…
These guys can't be serious.

eCash (BIP-300) vs. Blake2b Chain (BIP-110): Two Forks, Two Philosophies
Two Bitcoin forks went live this summer, three weeks apart, and they're really answers to opposite questions.
BIP-110 asks: how do we protect Bitcoin from what it's become? It went after inscriptions and on-chain data, needed miner support, got 2.5% of it, stalled for three weeks, then had to abandon SHA-256 entirely and relaunch on a new proof-of-work just to survive. That pivot cost it the one thing it was trying to defend.
eCash asks a different question: how do we let Bitcoin become more without breaking what it is? Same supply schedule, same emission, same block template. The only real change is BIP-300/301, letting sidechains handle payments, privacy, prediction markets, and any other use case, while L1 stays untouched.
One treats the base layer as a museum to be defended. The other treats it as a foundation to build on, carefully, without touching the foundation itself.
History doesn't hand down a verdict here, but it does offer a pattern. Forks built on subtraction, Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin SV, tend to fade once their one grievance stops mattering. Forks and platforms built on permissionless addition, Ethereum most of all, end up capturing entire industries, flaws and all.
The next two years will show whether that pattern holds. October 31 is when eCash's permanent chain goes live and the experiment stops being a rehearsal.
Either way, 2026 made one thing clear: Bitcoin's fights aren't just about its past anymore. They're about who gets to build its future, and how.

The entire incentive of mining bitcoin is profit.
You only mine bitcoin at scale if the asset you generate is worth more than the cost to produce it.
Section 6 of the whitepaper makes this clear.
You can’t remove the profit motive from a functioning bitcoin network!
Just added a **CONTIGUOUS** image to BIP110 using this method.
