The 2016 Olympic marathon champion Jemima Sumgong and current world marathon record-holder Ruth Chepngetich are both serving bans.
So it’s pretty galling news to see Peres Jepchirchir, the Tokyo Olympic and reigning world marathon champion, now suspended.

The London Marathon has a terrible recent record for dopers making its podiums.
2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020, 2023, 2024.
10 out of 15 race days between 2010-24.
And that's just the dopers who were caught...

One of the biggest doping busts ever if the suspension is upheld.

Following the news of 🇰🇪 Peres Jepchirchir’s provisional suspension after an out-of-competition sample collected before the Sydney Marathon returned an adverse analytical finding for EPO, two of the last three Olympic women’s marathon champions have now faced doping suspensions related to EPO after winning gold.
🇰🇪 Jemima Sumgong became the first Kenyan woman to win Olympic marathon gold in 2016. Less than a year later, she tested positive for EPO and received a four-year ban, which was later increased to eight years following a tampering violation involving fabricated medical records.
Now, today’s unfortunate news with the Tokyo Olympic champion.

The problem seems to be that the banks can't tell if the agents have been given permission by their users to access their accounts or not. Every big AI company is in the process of launching a proactive agent with access to everything. This is going to turn into a big issue.
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.
