The international animal rights organisation brings the reality of animal exploitation directly to the streets through its Cubes of Truth, using footage from farms, slaughterhouses and other industries while activists speak with passers-by. The scale is enormous. In 2024, around 78.5 billion chickens and 305 million cattle were slaughtered worldwide for meat, according to UN FAO data. These figures do not include fish, animals killed within the egg and dairy industries outside slaughter statistics, or animals used in laboratories. The organisation stresses that this estimate still excludes animals used and killed in laboratories, entertainment and other industries. The masks are deliberate: to keep attention away from the individual activist and focused on the animals and the footage being shown.
