Madaxnimoy - A song on leadership- By Ubax Fahmo :
The following song called Madaxnimoy (leadership) explains the different objectives that politicians have in seeking leadership. Addressing leadership as a person, it says:
O' leadership, people seek you for different reasons Some see you as a scary thing a lion’s canine and as bitter as an aloe gel, while others see you as a sweet honey to be licked.
Some see you as fearful as the oceans' deadly waves and storms, while others see you as lush green ranges that need to be grazed.
Some see you as a light that leads people out of the darkness, while others see you as a treasure waiting to be looted.
Some see you as a throne, a mirrored palace and endless partying,
while others see you as a time bomb tied to their hands waiting to explode anytime.
Some see you as a vision to be embraced to lead the people out of darkness, while others see you as a place of entertainment and singing!

After quoting local bigwigs & foreign do-gooders lamenting calamity because of #USA🇺🇲 aid cuts, an @FT piece notes that #Somalia🇸🇴 “has been in perpetual conflict since the overthrow of former dictator Siad Barre in 1991 and the ensuing implosion of the state.”
The relevant question that went unasked was why #Somaliland, with neither the billions of dollars in aid nor foreign peacekeepers, managed to reclaim its sovereignty, developing into a stable pro-Western democracy that has attracted significant #UAE🇦🇪, #UK🇬🇧 & other investment as well as recognition by #Israel🇮🇱.🤔

I actually very much agree with @tedcruz on this point despite other issues on which we disagree
It’s my interview with Somaliland’s president published Sunday night that set the stage for this too:

Thrilled @POTUS acknowledged yesterday that #Somaliland is a “totally different country” that has “nothing to do” with the rump #Somalia🇸🇴 failed state. As one of those whom the President said “like Somaliland” I think it is overdue for the #USA🇺🇲 to recognize reality — not just because it is the right thing to do, but because it is in America’s own strategic interests.

So this is big. President Trump finally distinguishes between Somalia (failed state) and Somaliland (The Little Country that Can!) at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio. This will lead to US treating two nations separately at long last!

Well said MP @Mohamed Hussein Jama
Four leaders meeting in El-Alamein, Egypt, cannot decide Somaliland’s future. That right belongs to the people of Somaliland.
Those who invoke sovereignty should also respect the voice and democratic choices of the people of Somaliland.
Somaliland will pursue its future peacefully and democratically.

The Government of the Republic of Somaliland firmly rejects the misleading claims made by the Somalian President and reaffirms Somaliland’s sovereignty, state continuity, and exclusive authority over its foreign relations.

“Somaliland is strategically located across the Gulf of Aden from Yemen. And the Houthis from Yemen now control a [nearby] maritime chokepoint, the Mandeb Strait, through which a not-insignificant amount of global trade passes every single day,” says CFR Middle East and North Africa expert @stevenacook.
Cook explains the history of the self-declared nation, and notes that President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi recently traveled to Washington and New York to make the case for U.S. recognition.
Well said @TiborPNagyJr. Spot on!
Credit Somaliland President "Irro" for putting his cards on the table. SL is offering the US highly valuable deals well worth pursuing. We would be shortsighted to rebuff them. Prez Trump doesn't usually care who gets upset; he shouldn't this time either!

During today’s House Financial Services Committee hearing, @RepJohnRose highlighted Somaliland’s strategic importance to U.S. security and economic interests and called for greater access to the U.S. financial system.
@SecScottBessent committed to reviewing Rep. Rose’s Somaliland Economic Access and Opportunity Act, receiving a briefing from @USTreasury ‘s International Affairs team, and engaging further with Rep. Rose’s staff.
We thank Congressman Rose for his continued leadership in advancing stronger U.S.-Somaliland economic ties.

Honored to be at the dinner hosted tonight by H.E. @yechielleiter, Ambassador of #Israel🇮🇱 to the #USA🇺🇲, in honor of the President of #Somaliland, H.E. @Abdirahmanirro, & his delegation. Great to see the friendship between two great countries, both democracies, in a key region!

Over the next two weeks, the President of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. @AbdirahmanIrro will meet with senior U.S. officials and members of Congress and other political and economic stakeholders. Today he attends the Middle East–America Dialogue (MEAD) Summit, where he will deliver a strong message to Washington’s foreign policy and national security community: "Somaliland stands with the United States against the forces of terrorism and coercion, just as we stand with Taiwan and Israel. We have real assets to bring to this partnership — and we are ready to deliver,” said President Irro.

Thanks for the shout-out! It has been a privilege to share in #Somaliland’s incredible journey over the years, not only only because it is a just cause and the right thing to do, but also because I believe that recognition is in the strategic interests of the #USA🇺🇲 & its allies.
Here we go: @DrJPPham's meetings with Somaliland's last three presidents.
We are delighted to see your meeting with the president. As Somalilanders, we have great respect for you as a true friend of #Somaliland.
