Disgraceful to see another political outlet debanked
🚨 BREAKING: Far-left news outlet The Canary suspends all operations after a second bank account is frozen.
It says it has no responsible alternative.
• The outlet claims Lloyds blocked its main account in June with no reason given, then Metro Bank froze a second account. Staff wages have been late since June. Pension payments were paused so salaries could go out.
• A weekday print paper launched in May was halted after two weeks. The Canary says the freeze, not editorial failure, forced the shutdown and that it is suspending rather than closing for good.

This isn’t a revelatory observation but I just saw this and its astonishing how mainstream culture is 3 or 4 years behind the internet. The movie plays with Ray Blanchards typology in a humorous way while making what’s meant to be a “horror” film. @basic_chanel wrote and directed a short film doing this same sort of play three years ago and was pilloried for it even though she’s trans and saw the same opportunity for commentary/play with ideas that are considered retrograde. Miasma even constantly mocks “woke” and places it firmly in the rearview mirror. It’s fun but I can’t help but think about how it’s made possible by lots of online creators who paid real social costs for laying the groundwork that made this mainstream art possible. It’s very good, I recommend the film, but this is what I thought about.

People who hate on megaopolis are cowardly cattle who can't handle when a man seeks to push the boundaries of an artform. People who think it is bad will need to rely on consensus to form an opinion. They're the same kind of person who was lukewarm on Barry Lyndon or The Night of the Hunter until the consensus allowed them to
I can believe the guy who made The Godfather made this. Simply because he's a force of nature who has a vision he is trying to impart. The better comparison to Megaopolis is Apopcalpse Now. He went mad making both movies and they are both an odyssey into Fords psyche. I want filmmakers to put their soul into movies and not just stick to easy studio checks to appease the lemmings.

Quirked up white girl makes a catchy pop record where she's one of only two credited songwriters, wrote half the songs by herself. 12 tracks in 35 minutes. If she filled in her eyebrows you'd all be calling it a RETVRN

People think Christopher Nolan is a pseudointellectual entirely because he's soft-spoken, eloquent, and has a British accent. He's not a pseudointellectual, he's just intelligent, but happens to make blockbuster spectacle films and thrillers for mass audiences.
