Power went down in 2024 after Livingstone beat them 61–54.
Two years later, Power have fallen again—from Division I to Division II.
And the irony? Livingstone, the club that sent them down, has gone with them.
At 43, Isaac Afidra “Magalo” gave Power everything he could. But perhaps the bigger question is why a club with five championships needed its past to carry its future.

Ronnie Kasewu.
That was one hell of a gifted left hand.
You were a true WARRIOR.
You were immersed in the sport.
You gave us unforgettable memories.
You delighted us.
When I think of YMCA, Wandegs, I think of you.
Thanks for adding a brick to what Ugandan basketball is today.
We shall always cherish your contribution.
Rather than hurt with the news of your passing, let me remember everything you did for the game.
RIP Ronnie.

More than a decade of dedication, three seasons at the helm, and a legacy that will forever be part of the Oilers story. Thank you, Coach Tendo, for your service.

What a piece!
Our clubs (those with a rich history of trophies) suffer this kind of fate always, not just the BB clubs but sports generally. Damn!
POWER - five-time NBL champions have now dropped from Division One to Division Two. Yet perhaps the most revealing part of Power's attempted comeback was the man they asked to help lead it: 43-year-old Isaac Afidra, Magalo, a 26-season veteran and a living link to the club's glory years. Afidra can still play, but one veteran can not reverse years of institutional decline. And in an almost perfect twist of sporting irony, @TheStone_City club that sent @Power_Basketbal down in 2024—has now been relegated alongside them. Power's fall is no longer just a story about losing basketball games. It is a story about what happens when a club's past remains alive, but its future has not yet been built.basketball256.com/2026/09/09…

Was honoured to be asked to hand @Baale_fayed his award for best 3pt shooter of the season, but he wasn't too thrilled himself as he would have preferred the champions trophy. True to form, he early in the 4th qtr knocked down three beauties in a row as the Oilers erased an 8pt deficit to take the lead momentarily, but it wasn't to be. Game 7 in Hoima will live long in the memory.

It’s just a suggestion! 😅
Due to public demand, we’re thinking of starting the trophy parade in Kamwokya and ending it in Namuwongo.

Resolution of sports disputes should be fast, effective and efficient. The courts should be kept out as much as possible but the internal sport dispute resolution processes often leave a lot to be desired. This is from one of Michael Beloff KC’s “Godfather of Sports Law” books.
Defending champions, Namuwongo Blazers have asked FUBA to postpone tonight's Game Six of the National Basketball League playoffs, till their petition regarding City Oilers player Malual Dier's eligibility, is resolved.
