How is LeBron fitting in with the Sixers? I examined last night's game to find what's working (thanks @coach_paint for graphics!) in this video, then link to full breakdown in 馃У below 馃憞馃弨
What WAS this violation by LaMelo?? If you're out of bounds and then re-establish inbounds position, you CAN touch the ball. BUT if you're a DRIBBLER, you cannot be the first to touch the ball after going out of bounds. LaMelo saves the ball in a controlled way as a dribble, steps out, then is the first to touch. This would NOT be considered a pass by NBA refs, however, there's another rule that says you cannot be the first to touch your own pass. Either one is a turnover and inbounded at the spot of infraction like we saw in this game. Rule attached below.
A progressing player gets two steps after the gather, so the back foot is not considered a pivot foot, and the drag is not considered a step
Having a player increase exit speed in one motion from the waist is a method I use when a shooter has a 2 motion shot and we're trying to optimize rhythm and get closer to a 1 motion. It tends to work better with more than one rep in a row.
What the commentators are missing is that Drummond is not square to the dribbler, hence not in legal guarding position, plus A to B collision for a very textbook blocking foul.
Coach Nick Nurse will have to get the whiteboard out and help shape the offense to allow Joel Embiid to thrive more alongside LeBron:

Don't forget: if you end the dribble and take too many steps, it's a traveling violation. Not a carry.

Hey @RyanRuocco am I the only person who doesn't like chicken salad? 馃ぃ
Jeremy Lin says it's not realistic to give 100% effort for 82 games. That is certainly true, but my worry as a coach when we demand 100% from our players is that they try to go "too" hard, which means going too fast, too tense, off balance
The nuggets bench erupted wanting a travel call on SGA. Was it? Look closely and we'll see the dribble end with the left foot down, then he's got two legal steps which is all he takes into the jump 馃憣
Cleveland makes a mistake as they easily could've had Mobley scram switch Harden out of there with the way the Sixers ran their offense
