As a born and raised Floridian, I’m done with this state, I’m so happy I’m moving to Georgia next year cuz they actually care about their people and don’t pander to elderly transplants Expect many young people to leave Florida due to the rising cost of living

As a florida native it is our civic duty to treat anybody who moves here as rudely as humanly possible

“You hate billionaires, but you want to be rich.” No. I want enough wealth to live a modest life and be generous with people around me. Not wealth built on exploitation, hoarding, or treating the planet like it is disposable.

i don’t typically post about politics on here but… emotions are high right now. MASSIVE fucking sigh as a floridian tonight. we are overrun by peoples republican grandparents who decide to retire here and people who want to move here bc of no state taxes. it takes double the amount of time to get anywhere because we have money hungry developers taking over and building WAY too many ‘luxury’ (expensive) apartment complexes and our roads cannot handle the traffic. not to mention pricing out locals of areas they’ve lived in for many many years. laws that protect landlords and their money, while consistently screwing over renters who can’t afford to buy a house in the market that the aforementioned developers created. our government has encouraged hatred for the LGBTQ+ community, consistently put transphobic laws into place, lacks protections for afab & trans people’s healthcare rights, lacks funding for education, and proudly censors what’s left of the education system bc ‘don’t say gay’ is something they hold oh so dear to their hearts. i could go on and fucking on about how i have watched a state i once loved and thought i would never leave has turned into a republican playground to see just how much money they can make and how much hate they can get away with without repercussions. it’s fucking ridiculous and native floridians are so so fucking tired. i’m so disappointed. encourage your republican grandparents, snowbirds, and acquaintances to move and retire to literally ANY red state, because they’ve taken enough from the people who live here.

That stupid property tax amendment is going to pass. I get it, Florida is unaffordable, but now it is just going to be an unaffordable shithole. They won't cut police budgets, they are going to cut libraries, parks, mosquito control, etc.

We’re living in a time where you can work 40 HOURS a week, cook every meal at home, drive an old car, have ZERO hobbies, and STILL have absolutely NOTHING in savings. And before someone says “LEARN TO BUDGET”…Budget WHAT exactly?! People are canceling subscriptions, skipping vacations, avoiding restaurants, and cutting back on EVERYTHING just to survive. Groceries are ridiculously expensive. Housing is ridiculously expensive. Insurance is ridiculously expensive. And somehow a quick trip to Walmart costs $150 when you barely bought anything. People are EXHAUSTED. They’re working FULL-TIME, paying their bills, and trying to be financially responsible. They’re not asking for luxury cars, designer clothes, or million-dollar homes. They just want to afford a NORMAL LIFE without constantly worrying about their next paycheck. When did working hard and living within your means stop being ENOUGH?!

being floridian means watching every race the last 10 years be neck and neck between a candidate with common sense and a candidate that's gonna press the big red button to kill us all

It’s the rural parts of Florida that let us down every time. Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville and Tallahassee hold it down every time.
