I wrote about the latest @theCCCuk report on coasts, and the emotional response I had to it. It's a great report and doesn't pull any punches - well done @ChiefExecCCC and all involved climateadaptation.cc/news-bl…

900mm of rain in 24 hours in North Carolina as Hurricane Helene tracked north. Unsurprisingly, reports of devastating impacts on local infrastructure.

Britain is not France. Le Pen (RN, dark blue) did well across all age groups. Reform and Tories disproportionately popular among the old.

Seeing a lot of growing hysteria about Labour’s vote share. Overstated. This was the election where tactical voting finally happened in significant numbers. And it didn’t happen by accident. Was a major plank of Starmer’s strategy.

"It's clear tonight" is a very bad analysis for such a senior journalist. It was only "clear" to anyone taken in by right wing bots and GB News/Guido Fawkes partisan pundits No BBC journalist should ever boost that stuff
What's going on in the London Mayoral race? No votes have been counted yet, so hold on to your hats.. but it is clear tonight that the race is much much closer than some polls had suggested... teapaw.org/bbcsounds/status/17864…

BREAKING: The High Court rules Rishi Sunak's climate plan is unlawful, in major victory for green groups. The campaigners argued that Grant Shapps signed off the government's climate plan to reach Net Zero without any evidence it could actually be achieved.

Andrew knows perfectly well what the answer to this is, because it's been explained to him repeatedly At this point his bleating about low wind periods, which –surprise!– actual grid engineers do know about, just looks like wilful ignorance
Tonight, despite our massive wind capacity, the turbines are generating only 5% of our electricity needs. Gas is providing 46% and nuclear 18%. Of course there are plenty of times when wind provides much more. But on a coldish night like tonight when it’s only 5%, if we had no gas or nukes, where would the power come from?

This is a much underappreciated point from @CSkidmoreUK. The window for securing a share of the industries of the future will close. The decisions made now and over the next decade really matter.
