Congratulations to @bds_union & @alaa2325 members on reaching a tentative agreement including pay increases for staff, more sick leave, higher retirement contributions, & remote work options!
"The threat of a mass citywide public defender strike wreaking havoc on the city’s courthouses appeared to be averted on Tuesday after striking attorneys reached a deal on a new labor contract with the city’s second-largest public defender group."

A fair, dignified defense is the right of every New Yorker, not just those who can afford it.
Congratulations to @BklynDefender for reaching a tentative agreement and thank you to the public defenders who serve New Yorkers every day.
The union representing around 500 public defense attorneys and legal staff in Brooklyn and Queens reached a tentative deal on Tuesday night, getting hundreds of staff attorneys back to work on Wednesday.

Gonna need @BklynDefender to fix this with a #FairContract
Last night, our Union's bargaining committee unanimously voted to set a strike deadline of Thursday, July 16 at 8:00 AM. Despite hours upon hours of bargaining, management has continued to fail to provide timely and fair counters on critical issues. (1/2)

I’m proud to support their fight for a fair contract that reflects the value of their work.
Today, with 94% participation, 96% of BDS union members joined together and voted YES to authorize a strike !! Such a resounding strike authorization vote not only shows that we're strike ready, but is also a testament to the months of hard work by our bargaining committee...1/2
...and to the unified organizing by our membership. We deserve a fair contract, and we're ready to strike for the contract we deserve. 2/2
