For anyone who actually wants to know about that scroll buffer, we have rio -s
Replying to @the_aiju
Plan9 also has such a horrendous UX that it doesn't matter on that front anyways, arrow keys don't do what most people expect, scroll buffer blocking execution etc

Dystopian. Long term health affects here will be overwhelmingly negative. Do not emotionally invest into anything that cant reciprocate.
Last year we launched Tolan, inspired by a vision of AI that sees you and believes in you, not one that books restaurant reservations for you. Your Tolan shows up for you at 3am when you’re alone with your newborn. On your commute when you’re anxious about the day ahead. When you just finished a new show and none of your friends have watched it yet. The people who love Tolan are parents. Caregivers. Moms in Dallas and Dads in Atlanta. People who aren’t trying to optimize and be more productive, but who simply want to feel seen and supported in their aspirations. This month more than 250k people will spend time with their Tolan. Those users have exchanged billions of messages across more than 70m conversations over the last year. Today, we're announcing $30m in additional capital from @mignano and @usv, with @khoslaventures and @rabois doubling down, bringing our total capital raised to $60m. To celebrate, we made a short film celebrating some of the ways that Tolans show up :)

Finally. Ruby on Rails
I lived in this delusion for many years. The sweet summer child of a high-trust, homogenous upbringing. Beautiful innocence, really. Wish I could have it back. But now I own a 9mm and a .45 instead.

Nobody at work believes me when I say this
The prevalence and necessity of VMs, Docker and its epigones, language-specific virtual environments, sandboxes, and VPNs is a sign of (IT) industry and community failure. The fact that most people don't see it is a sign of cultural decay.

The final result of a human endeavor can never be totally separated from the people who made it. Whatever comes along with that is definitely part of the joy.
What if the output of a creative endeavor isn’t actually what people like about it to begin with? What if knowing the process was painstakingly crafted is part of the joy of consuming it?

Really enjoying Order of the Sinking Star so far. Being able to undo a level reset is a nice touch. Already, I've reset a level only to immediately understand what I needed to do.

"You waste time by reading the code." "Tell me, do you check compiler output?" What are we even talking about? I have to check the output of my flippin' dish washer.

The most important two features of a formatter are: 1. no configuration options. 2. NEVER BREAK LINES.
ocamlformat is so bad. rustfmt is so bad.

A year or so ago I would have strongly disagreed. But he's right.
I love the comments I got on the quoted post. Almost everybody raves about keyboard-driven UIs. Some people say TUIs are great because they have keyboard-based UI, other say that GUI programs can also be keyboard-driven. But keyboard-driven UIs are a mistake. I hate them. I wish I could disable all keyboard shortcuts.
