she raises her little paws and waves one final goodbye. be happy, alice.

her gaze falls into alice’s face. there she is. the kindest smile, the one everyone should have loved if they hadn’t been too busy being the devil’s children.

she remembers her now. the pretty girl with the kindest smile, whom she once met by accident. perhaps her purpose here was to repay the kindness alice had always given so freely to everyone else. she doesn’t mind going into the burrow. not one bit.

her ears immediately perk up. within a split second, her tiny legs are hopping towards the light, all the way to the edge of the lake. she cannot get any closer, so she stands there, watching as alice finally finds the happiness that had belonged to her all along.

“neisha, neisha! hop faster! pommie and ashvein—— no! alice is on the stairs to the higher place!”
