Thanks to everyone who's downloaded a #hydrogeology map from the #Africa #Groundwater Atlas this year! Over 1100 downloads in the last 4 months😊(sadly no all-year stats). Ethiopia & Kenya were most in demand, but almost every country map was requested. www2.bgs.ac.uk/africagroundw…

I just finished reading @nature’s special issue content on racism in science. I found it powerful, depressing, uplifting, fascinating, and inspirational. In the hopes that I can tempt you to check out the wide content, here’s a quick🧵on all the content.nature.com/immersive/d42859-…
We're hiring! @BritGeoSurvey is looking for a #hydrogeologist to join our team of #groundwater science researchers @BGSGroundwater.
Could you come work with us?
Closing date 30 October.

Hard to believe today in Edinburgh☔️ but many parts of Scotland still in prolonged dry conditions & long-term rainfall deficits mean #groundwater levels at most @ScottishEPA #monitoring sites are low/very low, often the lowest since records began sepa.org.uk/environment/wate…
I'd love to see this book be created! Any hydrogeologist knows how hard it is to get great photos to help people see & understand #groundwater - it's usually hidden away! But @waterscipol have so many good entries to their photo competition they're hoping to publish them all.
We are delighted ✨ to announce that on today's opening day of the #WorldWaterWeek2022, WSP launched its very own #GroundwaterPhotoBook crowdfunding campaign!

Latest @ScottishEPA reports show large parts of eastern Scotland are at moderate or significant water scarcity because of the prolonged low rainfall. Most rivers are affected by low flows & most #groundwater levels low to very low & still falling.

Latest @ScottishEPA monitoring data shows effect of last week's heavy but short & localised rains - but all of east Scotland is still at moderate or significant water scarcity, and #groundwater needs much more rain & time to recover to normal levels.

Along with most of eastern Britain, eastern Scotland kept getting drier this week. Much of the Tweed catchment as well as mid & north Fife are now at significant #waterscarcity, with new restrictions on #groundwater & surface water abstraction in Fife.
