In hindsight, it's easy to see how a bunch of nuns went nuts for this guy.

I was sitting next to my friend and she literally just whispered "Would" when he walked in

Insane how this character just shows up like 2/3rds of the way through the movie

Man, the Devils for me really is something I’d go 6 out of 5 for. A second watch was even better than the first. So many papers I wish to write about it, especially in conversation with the actual history of the matter.

Murry Melvin as Fr Mignon is proof that a bad haircut can absolutely nuke your whole vibe bc one of these men I want to shove into a locker and the other is an ethereal elvish prince. Like those are 2 different men.

I really do think that Dudley Sutton as Baron de Laubardemont is very underrated in terms of discussion and he is absolutely terrific. I love how he will switch from righteous indignation, to cunning and being able to drop the act in all a moment’s notice. He’s so villainous,

Genuinely it is nothing short of a miracle that The Devils not only got made, but that I was able to go see it on a nice Saturday afternoon in my mid-sized city in Alabama

"It is no coincidence this occurred during France burning and American midterms." This film has been in the works for 15 years you schizophrenic dipshit lmao
Now, LAIKA is dead to me. This was a propaganda-activist film through and through. It is no coincidence this occurred during France burning and American midterms. A contemptible film from the storytelling—to the characters—to the messaging. We must take back entertainment.

i genuinely think much of the backlash towards the devils is rooted in people’s discomfort with seeing naked women on screen in a non-pornographic setting. to these people, the female body itself is a pornographic display.
they turn his charred femur into a dildo, my friend. and although the nuns are performing a fake possession to avoid being executed, what we’re witnessing as viewers is the orgiastic release of pent up libidinal energy whose suppression the church require as a form of control.
