No words. #HawaiiWVB wins 10 of the last 13 points in the third set to sweep UNLV 25-21. 25-11, 25-23. Mano Antiga and Rachel Purser with the block to end it. Hawaii improves to 18-3 and 10-0 and better receive some Top 25 votes next week. This team man.
#HawaiiWVB throttles UNLV 25-11 in the second set to go up two sets to none. UH hits .500 and gives up only three kills.
UNLV has used both of its timeouts already in the second set trailing 10-3. Wahine on fire right now. #HawaiiWVB
#HawaiiWVB wins the opening set against UNLV, 25-21. Panna Ratkai came alive with four big kills after a slow start and back-to-back aces from Arquette helped UH battle back. Match-high seven kills for Cha'lei Reid.
FINAL: #HawaiiFB 56, Northern Illinois 21. UH (2-6, 1-4) keeps bowl eligibility alive. Bye week followed by road game at UTEP. Alejado 22-32, 323 yards, 3 TD, INT; Barfield w/ 128 total yards and TD; DeVon Rice 12 car, 71 yards, 3 TD; UH had three pass plays of at least 44 yards.
Watching this #HawaiiFB team celebrate with Kydel Stone on the sideline is the highlight of the day for me. These guys needed this.
UPDATE: #HawaiiFB's 56 points are most since a 59-41 win over Navy in 2018 home opener.
Jeez what did Rolo have against the service academies?
Bjorn Jurgensen in at QB making half of our text line every morning on Let's Talk Sports happy. #HawaiiFB
#HawaiiFB's 49 points are the most under Timmy Chang and most since UH scored 49 in a win over Portland State in 2021.
Most points against a FBS team since UH scored 52 against Army in Nick Rolovich's last regular-season game in 2019.
END 3: #HawaiiFB 49, Northern Illinois 14
Alejado 21-30, 322 yards, 3 TD; Rice 12 car, 71 yards, 3 TD; Barfield 16 car, 58 yards, TD.
HALFTIME: #HawaiiFB 35, Northern Illinois 14. Micah Alejado 17-22, 237 yards, 2 TD; DeVon Rice 8 rush, 58 yards, 2 TD; Cam Barfield 10 rush, 44 yards, TD, 3 rec, 70 yards; Audric Harris 2 rec, 90 yards; Frank Abreu 3 rec, 31 yards, 2 TD.
IT'S A TOUCHDOWN. NUMBER 2 ON THE DAY FOR FRANK ABREU. He might have got hurt on the play but the play is overturned and he is credited with a 12-yard TD reception. #HawaiiFB 35, NIU 14, :23, Q2. Season high in points.
Now a bomb from Alejado to Audric Harris for 44 yards at the two-minute timeout. #HawaiiFB showing off now.
Jeremiah Hughes got his third pick in two games on a ball thrown just high. #HawaiiFB rushed only two ends on the play I believe and Julian Smith is I think the one who got the pressure to force an errant throw.
A perfectly called 62-yard screen pass on third-and-10 from Alejado to Barfield puts the ball inside the NIU 5. Barfield finishes it off with a 1-yard TD run. Touchdown #HawaiiFB. UH leads 28-14, 5:27, Q2.
#HawaiiFB has already surpassed its points total in five of its last six games.
There's just something different about DeVon Rice. Hits the hole and is GONE. 33-yard TD. #HawaiiFB 21, Northern Illinois 14, 11:17, Q2. So much for those defenses.
Both teams take turns trading punts. Maybe the defenes are finally settling in. #HawaiiFB
