She got what she voted for.... Meet die-hard MAGAt and three-time Trump supporter Sandra Hafraoui, an administrative professional who spent years enthusiastically voting for aggressive mass deportations, completely confident her own front door was bulletproof. Her politics were beautifully simple: robust border walls, uncompromising immigration enforcement, and absolute faith that the MAGA machine would strictly target "the worst of the worst" while bypassing her comfortable American life. That blind faith shattered on August 11 at Newark Liberty International Airport when ICE agents intercepted her Moroccan-born husband, Abdellatif, as the couple tried to board a flight for a Florida vacation. It turns out the federal immigration apparatus doesn't pause to check your spouse's voting record before enforcing an in absentia deportation order left behind by a fraudulent lawyer who was federally sentenced back in 2013 for scamming clients. The exact system Sandra cheered on treated her husband precisely like the people she voted to expel. He was shipped across facilities from New Jersey to Arizona, subjected to sleep deprivation, and thrown into solitary confinement for 10 days for refusing a forced flight, leaving Sandra to scramble for a $15,000 bond until his eventual release on November 26 after 108 days of state-sponsored trauma. The staggering hypocrisy is a masterclass in political myopia. Sandra openly admitted she supported these brutal policies under the assumption they would only happen to other families, only discovering the cruelty of the system once it directly ruined her life and drained her bank account.

🦧🦦 A Belgian zoo introduced a gang of otters to its orangutans to keep them from getting bored. And then all hell broke loose! At Pairi Daiza Zoo in Belgium, staff came up with an unusual idea: let a family of Asian small-clawed otters share a habitat with the giant ginger orangutans. And it turned out to be a brilliant idea! The little furry troublemakers started climbing out of the water, pestering the orangutans, and challenging them to play. And the orangutans happily joined in! An orangutan named Ujian and his son Berani became especially close friends with the otters. In 2020, photos of this adorable and unlikely friendship went viral around the world.

✅ @_SeanOGrady makes an important point: Britain never needed a referendum to join Europe in the first place. Ted Heath sought a mandate to negotiate, then Parliament decided. But we can’t afford to wait until 2029. @andyburnham inherited Labour’s 2024 Brexit red lines and they are blocking the best deal Britain can get, so let’s put that precise question to the public now. An urgent vote to scrap the red lines would give the Government a fresh democratic mandate to negotiate across the full range of options, without gambling the whole Parliament in an early general election. 2016 cannot be treated as a permanent instruction. Democracy means the public can change the mandate.

Do you like honey? Of course you do. The trouble is, if you buy cheap ‘honey’ in squeezy plastic bottles with a label saying it’s the produce of several countries, it may well contain little to no genuine, 100% bee-made nectar. Chances are it’s just composed of synthetic syrup.

🇺🇸 “The President of the US has become the principal enemy of the US.”
"Trump knows Russia is providing aid to Iran in [attacking our troops] ... He knows that he is providing US tax dollars - that are going to end up supporting Iran as they attack us, our soldiers ... That gets us from the realm of betrayal to the realm of traitorous behaviour."

President Putin is a murderer. His soldiers use rape as a weapon. He has launched wars costing thousands of lives. His agents have stolen children and destroyed families. Russia today is what President Reagan correctly called it: the evil empire.
Steve Witkoff to Putin: You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian. You are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that, I commend you, and I thank you again.

The final pieces of the puzzle are falling into place, revealing an increasingly disturbing picture of what is happening behind the scenes in Washington. If you are still wondering where Donald Trump's hysterical attacks on Kyiv come from, why he keeps making absurd claims about "the rain that saved Ukraine," and why he responds so aggressively to journalists who challenge him, consider the analysis of someone who understands the inner workings of the White House. Dr. Fiona Hill, a former senior White House national security official and one of America's leading experts on Russia, has offered a deeply troubling interpretation of Trump's behavior. Trump wants Zelenskyy to capitulate. Why? Because, according to this interpretation, the entire situation comes down to something painfully simple: Trump's wounded ego. This is a man who promised to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. He imagined himself receiving the Nobel Peace Prize and being celebrated as one of the greatest peacemakers in history. He envisioned a spectacular diplomatic triumph that would secure his place in the history books. Instead, his grand promises have collided with reality. Months have passed, the magical peace agreement has failed to materialize, and the Kremlin dictator continues to reject proposals that do not satisfy his demands. Putin has repeatedly demonstrated that he has little interest in helping Trump achieve his political ambitions. So who should Trump blame for this humiliating failure? Himself? Absolutely not. In Trump's political universe, admitting a mistake is practically unthinkable. Putin? Apparently not. Trump continues to treat the Kremlin dictator as a powerful leader worthy of respect, despite Russia's continuing destruction of Ukrainian cities and the deaths of innocent civilians. That leaves one convenient target: Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump is furious because the Ukrainian president refuses to surrender, refuses to kneel before Moscow, and refuses to sign an agreement that would sacrifice his country's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He is furious because an entire nation refuses to capitulate to an aggressor merely so the 47th president of the United States can stand before the cameras and declare himself the man who ended the war. And now, as Hill's analysis suggests, the pressure is increasingly being directed not at Moscow, which launched the invasion, but at Kyiv, which is fighting for its survival. The apparent calculation is that Washington, potentially supported by war-weary European governments, can pressure Ukraine into accepting terms that would allow Trump to claim a diplomatic victory, regardless of the long-term consequences for Ukrainian security. But the price of this political spectacle is not measured in television ratings, headlines, or Nobel Prize nominations. It is measured in the blood of Ukrainian soldiers defending their country in freezing trenches. It is measured in the lives of civilians killed by Russian missiles and drones, in destroyed homes, shattered families, kidnapped children, and entire cities reduced to ruins. Ukraine is fighting an aggressor determined to destroy its independence. At the same time, Ukrainians must confront the possibility that some of those who call themselves allies may place their own political ambitions above Ukraine's survival. There is something profoundly disturbing about demanding concessions from the country being invaded while treating the invading dictator as an indispensable partner in negotiations. Ukraine did not start this war.Ukraine did not invade Russia.Ukraine is not responsible for Putin's imperial ambitions or Trump's unfulfilled political promises. And Ukrainians should not be expected to pay for anyone's wounded pride with their freedom, their territory,or their lives. A peace agreement that rewards aggression and leaves Ukraine defenseless is not a historic diplomatic victory. It risks becoming an invitation to the next war.

I have read dozens of outraged posts because the US special envoy Witkoff called Putin a "humanist." But no one is writing about the fact that the American negotiators are simply not doing their job. Let me explain. Peace negotiations are important in their own right. Even if they do not lead to a lasting peace, the process itself is an opportunity to resolve urgent humanitarian issues. If, of course, the human dimension is a priority for the negotiators. But it is entirely obvious that neither Witkoff nor Kushner cares about people's fates in this war. The Pope calls on Putin to save thousands of people from starvation in occupied Oleshky and the surrounding villages. The UN speaks about a humanitarian catastrophe and asks Russia to allow the evacuation of the civilian population. European Parliament Vice-President Pina Picierno goes on a hunger strike to draw attention to this tragedy unfolding before the eyes of the whole world. And what are Witkoff and Kushner doing? That's right, almost nothing. Except for passing along greetings from Putin’s aide to the First Lady. Thousands of people are already eating grass to survive and begging to save their lives. The Ukrainian side raises the issue of Oleshky at every meeting. And I can name dozens of such urgent humanitarian issues off the top of my head where American negotiators must be proactive. Trump’s peace negotiations have already gone down in history as the deadliest years for Ukraine’s civilian population since the start of the full-scale invasion. I don’t know if anyone will remember the names of Witkoff and Kushner. But history will certainly record how American negotiators, who had the opportunity to save a huge number of people, refused to raise uncomfortable questions before "humanist Putin."

🚨 The whole world needs to hear these words from Zelenskyy: “Of course, we are not losing this war, but we are losing people and time. And it's heartbreaking, because our children don't have a normal life, they don't have a childhood,” says the Ukrainian president, whose country is now experiencing something that feels very much like betrayal.

With the late, great Oliver Reed currently wowing 2026 audiences all over again with his incredible performance in the restored version of Ken Russell’s ‘The Devils’, I wanted to share this amazing clip of him from 1985. The rather low-res clip comes from ‘In at the Deep End’, a BBC series in which presenter Paul Heiney tries his hands at a profession he had zero experience in. For this episode, Heiney was preparing for an acting role opposite Michael Caine in ‘Water’ and went to Oliver Reed for some pointers on how to play a villain. Please enjoy what happens next.
