Won the series! Lost our dignity in the process. * This marks only the second time in Major League history a team has won a series despite having a run differential of 20 or more (last: Louisville Colonels vs Chicago Colts: June 28 - June 30, 1897).

Over 25% of kids in the #PICU develop acute kidney injury (#AKI), making them 8x more likely to die. But @EStensonMD and @DrBradleyDixon might have found the canary in the coal mine, a biomarker, for identifying early risk. Learn more: joom.ag/t8Pd/p10

A truly beautiful & moving reflection of the art, science and utter raw humanity of our jobs in #picu We never forget these children & what a privilege it is to journey with them & their loved ones on their path. Thank you for sharing this @PedCritCareMed

Interesting study in @PedCritCareMed looking at outcomes for children with heart disease requiring #resuscitation who got calcium vs not. Interested to see what people in the #pedsCICU and #PedsICU think. journals.lww.com/pccmjournal…

Content Warning; death of a child. I wanted to share about the single most salient experience I had deciding who I was as a physician from directly observing an attending. Tragically, it involved the death of a pediatric patient; a child about 18 months old. #MedTwitter

Teaching medicine is modeling for trainees. Living medicine is knowing the limits of the body & science. It is protecting & insulating your team from the crushing self doubt during tragedy. We accept these limits are not failure. Doctoring is helping heal when medicine cannot.

This is a beautiful piece on dying in the ICU. The process I use is, “they are going to die, but I can’t tell you when. And no one should die alone, they should die surrounded by loved ones. There’s little we can control, but we can control the timing of death” #pedsICU – at Nags Head, NC
This is an excellent op-ed in today NY Times, and very applicable to my #PedsICU friends. nytimes.com/2022/07/31/opini…

Does every admitted patient need a code status discussion? @AvrahamCooperMD and I propose a more individualized & patient centered approach. The current 'checkbox' practice leads to superficial discussions & inaccurate code status determinations. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
