My first TurboCard is here all thanks to @blockchainjeff and the optimum team, and I think this is a pretty cool way for @get_optimum to commemorate its mainnet launch. ♾️
But there's something interesting about this drop that goes beyond simply minting an NFT and adding another collectible to your wallet.
Optimum has released 999 TurboCards, digital collectibles created from real network performance data. Each card is a soulbound token (SBT), meaning that once you mint yours, it stays permanently tied to your wallet. You can't sell it, transfer it to another wallet, or flip it on a marketplace.
And here's the part I find particularly interesting: none of the 999 cards are for sale.
In a space where almost every NFT launch comes with conversations about floor prices, trading volume, rarity, and potential profits, Optimum has made it clear that TurboCards have no monetary value and no utility. They're simply memorabilia created to celebrate the mainnet launch.
I like that approach because it gives the community something to keep without turning every project milestone into another financial speculation event.
Think of it as a digital memento of a particular moment in Optimum's journey. You were there, you participated, you got your card, and now you have something permanently associated with your wallet to remember it by.
The fact that these cards are built from real network performance data makes the idea even more interesting. Optimum has spent its time working on how data moves through decentralized networks, and now the community gets a collectible connected to that story.
For me, it's another way to make the journey feel tangible. We're not just reading announcements about the project; we're also collecting little pieces of its history as it develops.
And of course, you have to get an access code to claim one. Here's how you can get yours.
Step 1: Get an access code
Codes will be dropping on Optimum's X account, Discord, community calls, and through quests organized by partner KOLs and community leaders. The first batch drops for people with refined and higher roles on Friday, October 23, so keep your eyes open and stay active in the community.
Step 2: Unlock your TurboCard
Head over to the official minting page: turbocards.getoptimum.xyz/op…
Follow Optimum, connect your wallet, double-check that you're on the correct website, and enter your access code.
Step 3: Mint and reveal your card
Select your card, click “Mint now,” and confirm the transaction in your wallet. The gas fee is very minimal, so you won't need to spend much to mint it.
Once you've minted your card, you can also connect your wallet to OpenSea to check your collectible and reveal your card if it doesn't appear immediately in your wallet.
That's all there is to it!
If you're not already part of the community, join the official Optimum Discord and follow @get_optimum on X. Keep up with the announcements, participate in community activities, and don't miss the access code drops.
One important reminder, though: be careful with fake minting websites and people trying to sell codes.
Only trust the mint link and codes shared through Optimum's official channels.
999 cards. Zero for sale. No flipping. Just a piece of Optimum history to keep.
Now I've got mine, Who else wants to secure a TurboCard? ♾️

♾ Optimum Mainnet Launch Livestream Recap, with blocmates.
@get_optimum - launching on Ethereum mainnet - boosts Ethereum blocks by accelerating block delivery and attestations for real institutional node operators.
⚪️ Coming out of stealth after 12-15 months of development and extensive testing with validator partners.
⚪️ "Staggering" Launch Metrics:w
📍$3.4 billion in total value boosted
📍Approximately 22,000 validators
📍Most of the top 20 Ethereum validators have signed up, are live on it, or are currently onboarding.
📍Roughly 1.42 million staked ETH
Founding Story: CEO Prof. Muriel Medard and COO Kent Lin were introduced by a mutual friend while both were in Boston. After Kent spoke with numerous professors and researchers across top universities, his conversation with Prof. Muriel stood out as the best. Optimum was founded in spring/summer 2024, and the team has since grown through funding and hiring.
⚪️ The critical bottleneck most people don't know about: validators syncing up with each other. Ethereum, as one of the most decentralized networks, has hundreds of thousands of validators spread worldwide. The challenge involves:
📍Receiving a block somewhere
📍Sending out attestations (votes)
📍Having others receive those votes
📍Completing this back-and-forth within the 12-second Ethereum block time
⚪️ Validators are "the heart of the chain" – they keep everything running. Their business model depends on the APY they can obtain from their staked ETH and operations. Optimum boosts their performance through:
📍Better delay characteristics
📍Much more reliable delay
📍Improved operations for running their business
⚪️ The team's tagline is "Speed is money" – faster block delivery and attestation directly translates into higher staking APY for validators.
⚪️ The market is huge – Ethereum itself is $300 billion, with staked ETH at about $100 billion.
⚪️ Validators are leaving money on the table by missing the opportunity to maximize yield through faster block delivery. Optimum helps them capture that value without charging for the service – creating a win-win scenario.
⚪️ "Sidecar" technology:
📍Can be set up in approximately 20 minutes
📍Requires one developer, one cup of coffee ☕️
📍Does not replace the native Ethereum system
📍Does not introduce risk – data is not placed on a different network
📍Helps about 90% of the time (the other 10% is when native speed is already sufficient)
⚪️ Turbo Cards: a community-facing campaign and counterpart to the technical mainnet launch, exist in the form of a Soulbound NFT 🃏
📍Only 999 TurboCards
📍Reward participation in Optimum activities
📍Signify the blocks that Optimum is boosting and accelerating
⚪️Next 60-90 Days:
📍Strengthening Ethereum mainnet presence – Helping more validators on Ethereum
📍Moving to other chains – The vision is for all of blockchain, not just Ethereum.
⚪️ COO Kent Lin revealed that the team has done extensive internal work to assess which chain to target next.
"We are already exploring a number of very exciting other chains to expand and boost and accelerate." CEO Prof. Muriel Medard

One of my strongest beliefs I shared during the @gammaprime panel on disruptive tech investing:
For both blockchains and AI, few people realize just how valuable the infrastructure for fast, large-scale data transmission across decentralized networks is becoming.

Sometimes in the heat of battle you lose sight of what you're actually fighting for.
In the battle for mass blockchain adoption, the core promise of decentralization is being sidelined in the name of scaling.
But there's a better way. All it takes is a little bit of math...
What even is the point of blockchain if we have to give up decentralization to make it scale?
We've somehow ended up treating better performance as a reason to compromise what makes blockchain different in the first place.
So what if there's another way?
🌏 That's the rabbit hole we're going down in our latest Onchain World episode.
What if decentralization could actually help blockchains scale? ♾
We usually think about scaling in pretty straightforward terms:
◼️If you want more performance, you add more hardware.
◼️If you want lower latency, you upgrade the connection.
It works, until the network gets big enough.
At some point, you can't expect every node in a decentralized network to have the fastest hardware and best possible connectivity.
But what if we're looking at the problem backwards?
D2S-Decentralization to Scaling is @get_optimum idea that a decentralized network can actually use its participants as part of the scaling solution.
That exactly where the work on RLNC and mump2p becomes interesting to me. More efficient data propagation means the existing network can be used more effectively, helping information reach validators faster without simply raising the hardware requirements for everyone.
And that what I find so interesting about Optimum.
Instead of asking how to make a handful of nodes faster, the question becomes:
-How do we make thousands of nodes work together more efficiently?
Because the future of Web3 shouldn't require choosing between speed and decentralization.
The real breakthrough is making decentralization part of the path to scale.
The bigger the network gets, the harder speed becomes.♾
There’s an interesting idea behind what @get_optimum is building that goes beyond simply making Ethereum data propagate faster.
In a small network, adding better hardware can solve a lot of latency problems.
But what happens when the network keeps growing?
You cant give every node the best hardware, the fastest connection, and a private fiber line. At some point, scaling through hardware alone becomes incredibly expensive.
This is where the idea of RLNC really comes into its own.
Nodes don't have to be viewed as passive recipients: RLNC enables them to cooperate in transmitting information across the network.
Think of it as turning more participants into part of the delivery system.
And the fascinating part?
The larger the network becomes, the more useful this approach can become.
That changes the conversation from
How do we make the fastest nodes even faster?
to:
How do we make the whole network faster?
Thats a much bigger problem to solve.
And potentially a much bigger opportunity for @get_optimum.
Monday again.
Probably the least exciting day of the week...
Everyone is waking up slowly, catching up on messages, putting out fires and trying to get the week moving.
In a weird way, the current market feels pretty similar.
Things are slower. Attention is scattered. A lot of people are waiting for the next cycle to give them a reason to move.
But I think the quieter periods are often when the most important work gets done.
It's when you have time to build the right partnerships, improve your infrastructure and prepare for the traffic that's coming instead of trying to upgrade everything once the traffic is already there.
That's also why partnering with @get_optimum can be such a strong move. ♾
RLNC + mump2p are focused on making data propagation faster and more predictable, helping networks scale more efficiently without simply relying on ever more powerful hardware.
Because when the next wave of activity arrives, the winners won't be the ones who started preparing when it got busy.
They'll be the ones who were ready before it arrived.
