Lucentum Alicante is building its digital home. The historic Alicante basketball club is launching a new app that brings fans, sponsors and academy players into one club-owned space, developed with Blocksport. Ionut Georgescu, COO of Lucentum Alicante: "We are not launching an app, we are building Lucentum's digital home. One place where fans, sponsors and our academy players can all come together." Inside: gamification, voting, predictions, direct communication and sponsorship activations, all tied to a registered, engaged fan base the club owns outright. For sponsors, that means measurable presence instead of estimated reach. Lucentum joins a growing roster of clubs building their digital home with Blocksport, including Partizan, ARIS BC, AS Monaco and ratiopharm Ulm. 4 pillars: fans, community, business, academy. One ecosystem. #SportsTech #FanEngagement #DigitalTransformation

42.4%. That's the DAU/MAU stickiness of ratiopharm ulm's "Uuulmer" SuperApp in the German easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga. 1,351 fans open it daily. 3,183 open it monthly. For context, most consumer apps outside of social and messaging sit in single digits on that ratio. The number that makes it stranger: the app has 5000+ all time downloads. So roughly six in ten people who have ever installed it are still active every month. Not a launch spike. A habit. What builds the habit: - 4.6 events per user per day - 8.3 screens per session - 4 min 11 sec average session - 90% of users started fan missions - 15% regularly play match predictions And the fans behind it are identified, not anonymous. 100% verified email. 50% have verified phone numbers. hashtag#SportsBusiness hashtag#FanEngagement hashtag#Basketball hashtag#BBL hashtag#FirstPartyData

2min 46sec. That's how long the average AS Monaco Basketball fan spends on a single screen inside the club's app. Not the homepage. That gets 50 seconds. Not live game stats. Those get 51. The screen is the Roca Sphere block: highlights from the weekly 50-minute TV Monaco show about the club, surfaced natively inside the app. TV Monaco sponsors that app. Welcome screen, home screen, missions, voting. Most sponsor placements get measured in impressions. This one gets measured in dwell time, and it outperforms every piece of first-party club content in the product. Average session length across the whole app is 3 minutes. So one sponsored content block holds fans for almost the entire session. That is what happens when a broadcaster stops buying a logo slot and starts becoming a feature. 12,525 registered fans behind it. 93.4% with verified emails. Over 80% inside the Principality. Hyper-local, identified, measurable. #SportsBusiness #SponsorshipROI #FanEngagement #Basketball #EuroLeague

The Livingston FC official SuperApp is live. Blocksport's first UK launch, and the Lions now have one place their supporters actually live in: news, video, matchday, loyalty missions, rewards, and a direct line to the club with no third-party platform sitting in the middle of it. Shipping it before a season opener is the hardest deadline in football, and the team hit it. So from all of us at Blocksport: good luck to everyone at Almondvale on Saturday against Queen's Park. New season, new digital home, and hopefully three points to start it off. Come on the Lions 🦁 #LivingstonFC #FanEngagement #SportsTech #ScottishFootball #FirstPartyData

90% of Famalicão fans started an in-app mission. 50% finished it. That's not a drop-off. That's a data funnel with a 50% conversion rate, something no email form or social contest gets near. Look across clubs and the pattern repeats: → AS Monaco Basketball: 5,637 entered, 400+ became verified Super-Fans → Qarabağ FK: 95% engaged, 90% converted at the final stage → Kaizer Chiefs: 90% entered, 70% completed → OH-Leuven: 97% entered, 87% completed Six clubs. Three leagues. Two sports. Same funnel shape every time. Here's why it works: a social follow costs a fan nothing and tells a club nothing. A completed mission asks for one more piece of real data at every step, in exchange for a small reward. Fans give it up because they're already three steps in. Most clubs still budget gamification like a nice website feature. The math says it's actually your cheapest path to a verified fan record. The real question isn't whether you can afford a missions feature. It's what your cost per verified fan looks like without one. Azerbaijan is not a global football market. Qarabağ FK still turned a 20% engagement rate into 65%. Before their fan app, engagement lived almost entirely on social media, at 20%, with no way to know who was actually paying attention. Today, inside a verified app the club owns, that number is 65%. Even against their own website, the app runs hotter: 72% engagement vs. 50%, with sessions running 4 minutes long against 34 seconds on the site. Over the past year, monthly active users more than doubled. Daily active users grew more than 5x. None of it took a mega-club marketing budget. It took moving fans off platforms the club doesn't own and into one it does, then giving them a reason to stay: fan missions, a points system, and a premium tier fans actually pay into. Qarabağ shares a Champions League group stage with clubs that outspend it many times over. Their app numbers don't look like a smaller club's. Your club just posted a last-minute winner. 40,000 likes in an hour. Tomorrow, you will know none of them. Not an email. Not a phone number. Not one verified fan. That's the 0% problem in club marketing: the exact moments your fans engage the hardest are the moments you own the least. Even a standout SuperApp launch runs into this. Vitória SC pulled in 5,000 new users in 10 days, more than half of what their old app collected in two years. Still, only 15% of their social followers converted into app users. The other 85% stayed exactly where they started. Qarabağ FK flipped the ratio. In-app engagement went from 20% relative to social to 65% verified in-app engagement, just by moving the relationship into a channel they control. Once fans are inside an owned channel, the numbers change completely: 70% opt in 100% of accounts carry a verified email 70% share a phone number None of that happens on Instagram. A website session lasts 34 seconds. An app session, same club, same fans: 4 minutes. That's Qarabağ FK, one of three clubs we looked at when comparing app vs. website engagement: → OH-Leuven FC: 92% engagement in-app vs. 59% on the website → F.C. Famalicão: 84% vs. 59%, with roughly double the screens viewed per visit → Qarabağ FK: 72% vs. 50%, and a session length gap of nearly 7x The website is a lookup. Someone wants a fixture time or a ticket link, gets it, leaves. The app is a visit. Push notifications, fan missions, leaderboards, a profile that remembers who you are — none of that exists on a website, and it's the reason fans stick around. Full breakdown of what's driving the numbers, club by club: blocksport.io/blog/mobile-pl… #SportsBusiness #FanEngagement #SportsTech #DigitalTransformation #SponsorROI

🎙️ New Interview: “In football, emotion drives everything – but data makes it work.” In a recent conversation conducted by FBIN Network, José Pedro Dias — former Commercial Director at FC Porto and now Head of Sales at Blocksport — shares powerful insights on how football clubs must evolve in a digital-first world. ⚽ Key takeaways from the interview: Emotion rules football, but data makes it scalable. Unlike telecom or other industries, fans don't simply “switch providers.” Football loyalty is emotional, yet modern engagement must be data-driven. Fans expect year-round interaction. Clubs can’t rely solely on matchday moments — they need continuous, personalised engagement across digital channels. Most clubs struggle with fragmented systems. Blocksport aims to become the “digital home” for fans by unifying data and empowering clubs with a full ecosystem for engagement. Generational shift. While older fans value tradition, younger fans demand gamified, personalised, and mobile-first experiences. Clubs must adapt or fall behind. 💡 This interview is a must-read for anyone shaping the future of sports, fan engagement, or digital transformation. 🔗 Read the full interview on Blocksport’s website: blocksport.io/news/jose-pedr…
