Yep, as a Mexican living in Mexico I can tell you that when you reach that point is basically a failure of the state whose supposed to provide safety to their citizens. And you can't wait to the state to fix things so you hire private security.

Totally agree with maybe the exception of reading. Kids are copying each other and doing mundane, rhetorical exercises at home that parents don't have time for or aren't equipped to help.

Potentially unpopular opinion: if you can’t teach the whole curriculum without homework, your curriculum is the problem. Kids aren’t“quiet quitting” by expecting to only do work @ school. After 7-8 hrs of work, they should expect to protect their peace & find joy when they leave
