Last night, an Israeli airstrike killed a Christian mother, Maisa Khader Ayyad, and her daughter Mary in their home in Gaza City.
Maisa was Rami Khader Ayyad's sister.
In 2007, Rami Khader Ayyad, a Palestinian Christian who ran Gaza's only Christian bookstore and worked for the Protestant Holy Bible Society, was abducted and murdered by a Hamas member after threats over his faith and Christian work. He was pressured to convert to Islam and refused.
The terrorist who murdered Rami was known. Hamas did nothing to hold him accountable, and he remained free and untouched.
This family has been crushed twice: first by Hamas, then by the Israeli army.
Palestinian Christians in Gaza are disappearing. Not by choice, but by force.

Dear friends, I have received very sad news this morning from Gaza. Five people were killed overnight in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in western Gaza City. Among those who lost their lives were Mary Hafez Abu Daoud and her daughter, Maysa Abu Daoud, both members of Gaza’s Christian community. Contacts in Gaza tell us that Mary and Maysa were deeply involved in supporting their community and had been particularly active as volunteers throughout the war, helping others during these very difficult times.
I ask you to join in prayer for Mary and Maysa, for their family and friends, and for the Christian community in Gaza, which once again is mourning the loss of two of its members. We also remember the other victims, those who were injured, and all the people in Holy Land who continue to live through so much suffering. May Mary and Maysa rest in peace, and may their generous service to others remain as a testimony of faith and love in the midst of war. Please keep Gaza and the Holy Land in your prayers.
