Might not be updating this going forward I don't think. I'm on Bluesky (@boardgems.com) though haven't yet gotten into the habit of posting. Will start soon, with my next gem most likely. Still making videos, still going strong. 💪

Samurai: TCG shrunk the action of TBG down to square cards. Still took up a lot of space! And maybe suffered in comparison to its big brother. The newer edition, Pollen from @AllplayHQ, stands on its own: beautiful with great gameplay. #boardgames youtu.be/TbqdO6HP_So

A Rating Rebuttal has been posted for Expedition: Northwest Passage! Rating Rebuttals are now only available to members. For those that want to offer a little support, a loonie a month, these videos are a thank-you for that! #boardgames youtube.com/channel/UCX9Ab6e…

In Expedition Northwest Passage, traverse the Arctic Canadian archipelago. Ice creeping south can trap your ship — put out your sled, but mind it’s not stranded! A great combo of setting + intuitive mechanisms. Going live now, join the chat! youtu.be/ttzB5rxStjo #boardgames

The return of the Rating Rebuttal! Going to go over comments from people who rated Balloon Cup / Piñata poorly. Let’s see what I missed with my positive review. #boardgames Tried live-streaming but had audio problems. Take 2: youtu.be/7OM-WyFKObw

I’m about to talk about Balloon Cup, one of the better games from the classic 2p Kosmos line. Remade as Piñata by Rio Grande, with updated rules and a busy presentation. youtu.be/xo_y7MU1YhI Join me for live chat! Right now! #boardgames

Join me for live chat right now! Talking Conspiracy from the 70s (and new ’19 ed from @RestorationGame). Secretly wire money to secret agents, trying to influence them to bring the MacGuffin to you. A very unique game! #boardgames youtu.be/xLABc8ks5yg

Leonardo da Vinci is a worker-placement game, but multiple players can have multiple pawns in a space. Whaa? IT’S ACTUALLY AN AUCTION!! This video is about the 2006 ed; there’s now an updated version from @Dicetreegames called Codex Leicester. youtu.be/WM38iIgYTwI #boardgames

If you need a tutorial on the new version of Leonardo daVinci (@Dicetreegames’ Codex Leicester), here you go! youtu.be/bfQxsbIv0DQ (I’ll do a gem video on the original and differences with the new in the future. This was requested so wanted to get it out there.) #boardgames

In Kuhhandel AKA You’re Bluffing, jump in with your bids & try to get a set of all 4 the same animal. If 2 players share an animal, they can force a trade with a secret bid. Beware of bluffs! A German evergreen card game from @RavensburgerNA. #boardgames

Two more side-by-slideshows, comparing with commentary: * Ethnos & Archeos Society: youtu.be/5jriuWF03zU * Two editions of Basketboss: youtu.be/NmH2HUETLBY Next video will be on Kuhhandel AKA You’re Bluffing. Getting busy, hoping I can finish by Sep 3rd! #boardgames

Arkadia (2006 Rüdiger Dorn/@RavensburgerNA) was a unique polyomino/stock manipulation game that may have been dismissed for its “dry euro” look. Nominated for GotY in 2007 and no printing since, it’s surely unknown to newer #boardgames enthusiasts… youtu.be/VMWQfdHkQX0

Another side-by-slide comparison, with commentary. This one compares Pollen, a new release from @AllplayHQ and @ReinerKnizia, with the previous 2009 release Samurai: The Card Game from Rio Grande and @abacusspiele. #boardgames youtu.be/z38mNJ1-4iQ

The multi-award-winning El Grande almost needs no introduction. Almost 30 years old and remains the standard to which other area-majority #boardgames must justify themselves. New edition with refreshed art coming soon from @hig_games. youtu.be/6U6qkTRTeew

A few side-by-slide comparisons with commentary. First, @CorneCwali’s Roll to the Top, @CwaliGames vs @AllplayHQ: youtu.be/aVzon9w829o Second, the @leocolo classic, 2002’s Clans from @WinningMoves and 2018’s Fae from @Zmangames_: youtu.be/XFDfVZcgOZs #boardgames

Big Shot! Auctions + area majority + twists. Ties cancel out and loans are punishing, so Every Auction Matters. One of Alex Randolph’s late designs, it’s a classic. An old copy in the vid, but a recent reprint from @opennplay looks beautiful. #boardgames youtu.be/-drM9uROx1Y

"Most boring video ever. Go back to your #boardgames." youtu.be/GV0q29FbmYI

In this video I compare, side-by-slide with commentary, the 2002 and 2020 editions of @hig_games Carcassonne: Hunters & Gatherers. #boardgames 👥 Next Gem video on June 3rd on Alex Randolph’s Big Shot!

In this video, I compare side-by-slide with commentary the two editions of Franz-Benno Delonge’s Big City: Goldsieber 1999 and @MercuryGamesInc 2019. (I think I said 2017 in the vid, but it’s a 20th anniversary edition!) #boardgames youtu.be/df10odmlVfE

Because of my love of Ave Caesar, people have asked me for my thoughts on some other chariot-racing #boardgames. Here's a comparison of two recent ones, 2017's Chariots of Rome from defunct @VPGame and 2022's Charioteer from @gmtgames. youtu.be/Kvd1ATP8ECA
