My new book The Nord Stream Conspiracy is now available in English, German and Polish in bookstores and online. Here're some citations from the wonderful reviews so far:
"A remarkable book... Bojan Pancevski tells a high-stakes international war story in blockbuster prose... a spectacular feat of investigative journalism." — @nytimes
"A wild, gripping story... A chronicle of three feats: the sabotage, the police inquiry and the author’s stupendous investigative reporting." — @TheEconomist
"A really fascinating story." —Christiane @Amanpour, @CNN
"A truly riveting account of the most notorious act of sabotage in modern history. Bojan Pancevski combines investigative flair with geopolitical insight to illuminate not only how the Nord Stream pipelines were destroyed, but why they matter so profoundly to Europe’s energy, security and political future. A real-life page turner."
—@peterfrankopan, author of The Silk Roads
"Totally fascinating, deeply researched, as compelling as a real international spy thriller that follows a winding thread through a submerged world of conspiracy - both a fantastic read and an important work of investigation."
—@simonmontefiore, author of Jerusalem
"Welcome to the kaleidoscopic and contested world of the Nord Stream bombing—perhaps the most daring and consequential act of sabotage since the second world war... Bojan Pancevski, a reporter with The Wall Street Journal, has filled in much of the detail in a story of war and European energy politics that reads like the plot of an implausible if gripping thriller." — @FT
"An absolutely extraordinary book… Combining the skills of a detective with those of a novelist, Pancevski has not only uncovered the truth about one of the most daring acts of sabotage in modern history but done so with the page-turning propulsion of a first-rate fiction thriller. One of those rare books that informs even as it wholly entertains." —Scott Anderson, author of Lawrence in Arabia
"Pancevski’s lively and well-written account is about as close as we’re likely to get to a straightforward story of what happened under the Baltic Sea... Plenty of current-affairs books these days are trumpeted with the phrase 'reads like a thriller.' The Nord Stream Conspiracy genuinely does." —@Telegraph
"This book is a classic and deeply engaging thriller about the actions of a vividly rendered and larger than life cast of characters involved in both the sabotage operation and its criminal investigation. With a keen journalist’s eye for detail and a movie director’s sense of pacing, Bojan Pancevski tells one hell of a story. You won’t want to put this book down until you’re finished.” —Fiona Hill, author of There Is Nothing For You Here
"Jaw-dropping... the definitive account of the most impactful special operation in the history of warfare." -The @Spectator
"Bojan Pancevski has written a powerful detective story that finally and definitively answers the question of who blew up Nord Stream 2. Not only is it brilliant journalism, but it reads like a bestselling thriller."
—Admiral James @stavridisj, former @NATO Supreme Allied Commander and co-author of 2034
“The Nord Stream Conspiracy is a riveting exposé of the audacious sabotage that destroyed the Nord Stream pipelines—the largest German-Russian energy project in history. With extraordinary access to the key players across nations, Bojan Pancevski delivers a gripping account and the closest look yet at an event whose geopolitical repercussions continue to reverberate."
—Walter Russell @wrmead, author of Special Providence
"A brilliant work of investigative journalism, a study in geopolitics, and a spy thriller all in one." - Sergey @DrRadchenko, author of To Run the World: The Kremlin’s Cold War Bid for Global Power
"A cinematic and compelling account of one of history's greatest acts of sabotage, Bojan Pancevski’s The Nord Stream Conspiracy—unlike so much of what's been said by politicians and commentators on the attack—has the added benefit of being true." —Ben Smith @semaforben, founder of @Semafor and author of Traffic
"Like London Falling… An absolute thriller." —Alastair @campbellclaret, The @RestIsPolitics
“Bojan Pancevski’s investigation into the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines is as daring and mind-blowing as the sabotage itself. In its details the book is as precise as a brain surgery.” —Ivan Krastev, author of The Light that Failed: A Reckoning
"Terrific book." - Michael @shellenberger
"Outstanding... a remarkable book" - Literary Review @Lit_Review
"Bojan Pancevski delivers one of the most significant and riveting journalistic scoops of the twenty-first century. Through exclusive interviews, he reveals the definitive account of a daring mission brimming with secrets, saboteurs, and spies. This is investigative storytelling at its finest—relentlessly fast-paced, meticulously reported, and an absolute page-turner."
—@RichardKerbaj, author of The Secret History of the Five Eyes
"This is not merely a book about a pipeline explosion. It is a book about power, secrecy, improvisation, and the messy intersection of war and politics in the twenty-first century." - @thecipherbrief

A FOREIGN POLICY MOST ANTICIPATED BOOK OF THE YEAR
Germany is now shouldering the bulk of the aid for Ukraine in absolute terms. But the German public, faced with no growth perspective and redistribution battles, is getting tired of that. The number of people who say “too much” up 14% in a year.

Trump says Iran has kneecapped his Russia policy. First he went much farther than Biden in sanctioning Russian oil giants Rosneft & Lukoil and personally approving intel to guide Ukraine's deep strikes.
Now he is reduced to commending Russia for not helping Iran kill more Americans than they already did & desperately trying to get their oil to calm markets.
If anything, this projection of weakness might increase Putin's ambitions at the negotiation table.
My decision on Russia is a very simple one. I am in the process of negotiating Peace in the war between Russia and Ukraine, and don’t want to do anything that will drive, foolishly, Russia away from the bargaining table. Great progress is being made, and that includes current hostage negotiations! Signing that document at this time will do that, and I can sign it later, or any time that I want! Perhaps more importantly, Russia is doing very little, if anything, to help the Islamic Republic of Iran, compared to what they could be doing, and I want to keep it that way, and will, unless stupid people get in the way. Lastly, Zelenskyy is using Diesel Refineries in Russia as a target, knowing that these attacks are seriously hurting the world diesel markets, including those in the United States. Farmers, ranchers, and businesses of all kinds are suffering greatly from this, but Russia is, nevertheless, sending, at a low price, millions of barrels of diesel to the World. Zelenskyy doesn’t care, and frankly, with all of the money that Europe is famously giving him, and that Crooked Joe Biden gave him in the past, he doesn’t want to end this war, and probably never did. He could have made a better deal two years ago than he can now. His country is in shambles, a large portion of his land is lost, his oceans and seas are gone, and his male population is low, wounded, and/or dead. I WANT THIS WAR END! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

Eastern Europe, which has no riots an no mass migration, responds to the meltdown:
Shocking videos and images are coming out of France. Historic buildings have been destroyed, hundreds of police officers have been injured, and enormous material damage has been caused amid the escalating vandalism and violence of recent days.
In the face of this senseless destruction and unjustified violence, perhaps it is now clear to everyone why Hungary advocates the strictest possible approach to migration, and why we will not weaken our border protection or immigration policy under any pressure.
I am glad that the current EU summit has made it clear that the overwhelming majority of European countries have woken up and want to break with the permissive policies of the past. We hope it is not too late.
Let there be no doubt: peaceful and lawful protest is one thing; vandalism and violence are quite another. The former is a fundamental right; the latter is a serious crime.
The Europe we all love is in serious trouble today. It is our responsibility, too, to help preserve our continent as the most wonderful place in the world for our children and grandchildren.
Europe can count on Hungary.
I express my full solidarity with the French people.
Poland responds the riots ripping through Western Europe
To usłyszeli ode mnie liderzy Europy w Brukseli.
Another sign of the talks going nowhere: U.S. negotiators are talking past Russia, Europe and even Trump. There is no way for them to offer up European agreement on intensifying the gas trade absent peace in Ukraine. Russia has been trying to restart Nord Stream since Ukrainians blew it up; it won’t happen unless 1. The war stops 2. AfD wins absolute majority. Existing consortia failed to get the Trump admin, to issue sanction waiver. Even if shale gas champion Trump would do it, EU sanctions remain and Germany needs to agree and certify. Negotiators spend energy discussing abstractions while achieving nothing of the positions demanded by the Kremlin and the WH, let alone Kyiv or Europe.
As part of its Ukraine peace talks, the Trump administration is proposing that Europe buy more Russian gas and that Ukraine go back to transporting it.
Germany is strongly opposed, but it’s a wedge issue for the AfD. With @jimtankersley nytimes.com/2026/10/17/us/po…

And the problem is manufacturing. Ukraine like the rest of the world is facing America’s inability to quickly scale production despite huge market demand.
A German factory will come online early next year and that will help somewhat but until then there is no real solution
In light of the articles about Ukraine's Patriot shortage: Something that's important to understand about Ukraine's very limited supply of Patriot interceptors is that they run out almost every month by around mid month. This has been the case since early summer at least. But it happened on other occasions earlier, too. The US sends shipments of Pac-2 and Pac-3 interceptors to Kyiv in small batches, sometimes ~5-15 at a time, as they are produced. So we could write pretty much every month, 'Ukraine is out of Patriot missiles,' because after the first Russian attacks each month it's often the case.

As a German, it is a tragedy: in a parallel universe this would be Germany’s moment, as it requires so much that Germany has traditionally excelled at: industrial capacity, engineering, world-leading physics, design and manufacturing excellence. That was exactly what ‘made in Germany,’ stood for.
