Did I mention by the way that as part of @NickFerrariLBC's challenge we've been testing E. coli levels in rivers.
Now remember anything above 900 cfu/100ml (colony forming units in 100ml of water), is graded as 'Poor' for bathing water quality and anything above 1,000 cfu/100ml is just getting down right dangerous.
On the River Severn at Worcester we found levels of 48,900 cfu/100ml.
E. coli can cause diarrhea (which can be bloody), abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, weakened immune systems, kidney failure, anemia, and low platelet count, long-term health complications or even death.
You have been warned.

And here they are 👇 the men and woman responsible for dumping 14,027,654 hours worth of sewage into the environment over the last 5 years and helping pollute every single river in the country.
Ladies and gentlemen I give you the board of @Ofwat.
"In the name of God, go".

Thames Water has been lobbying govt & @Ofwat to "increase bills by 40%, pay lower fines for breaches and keep paying out dividends as part of efforts to avert a taxpayer bailout".
No to bill increase, no to bailout. If it goes bankrupt it goes bankrupt.

So there we have it.
Just 48 hours after the EA restocked the River Weaver with 8,000 fish following a previous pollution incident a farmer is caught on camera dumping what is believed to be 20,000 litres of slurry back into the river.
Guardians of the environment indeed.
Authorities believe that over 20,000 litres of slurry have gone down the drains in Audlem, Cheshire last night.
This is all headed to the Upper River Weaver, again, just as the river was due to be restocked following the last slurry incident in Oct 2023

Yep, you read that correctly.

Your national sewage dumping report for the morning of Friday 3rd Nov 2023.
Each red dot represents sewage being dumping into the environment.

Your daily sewage dumping report. Yes every little red dot is a water company dumping sewage into / onto a beach.
Grrr. 🤬

If you missed it on yesterday's @BBCBreakfast here's the question I asked the Secretary of State for the Environment.
My thanks to all of those wonderful people who attended @ftweekend last Saturday for their participation.

Well said 👏- the huge damage this Govt is doing has to be called out 👇

Entertainingly, Gove is hosting a round-table with environment groups tomorrow - including the RSPB who just called him a liar!

I've been told that house builders provided 20% of Tory party funding, not that any of these things are in anyway interlinked you'll understand.

And again. 👇
Everyone should read this. Ps if @RSPBEngland put out a thread like this against a Labour government it would lead the news and lead all the right wing rags who will instead try to turn it into a story about wokery. Liars supported by liars. Viva RSPB!!
Ieva Breiteryte retweeted
And for no other reason than it seriously rattled the right wing Tory think tanks, I see they were all out in force last night trying to defend this shoddy government and the even shoddier policy they want to implement.
Ieva Breiteryte retweeted
Actually Sam most people who actually know about the subject acknowledge that, in the limited places where it applies, additional unmitigated housebuilding will have a significant impact on already damaged rivers.
Context: The Government has announced over £200m in new funding for environmental mitigations to improve rivers.
At the same time, they're removing a blunt ban on housebuilding, that everyone admits, only has a tiny impact on river pollution.

20% of your party's funding in exchange for a £643,000,000 increase in your share price in just 17 hours.
Sounds like a deal to me.
Scrapping housebuilder pollution rules is a regression, watchdog tells Coffey.
Scrapping the rules in England will cost taxpayer £140m
Govt will ignore public concerns, subsidise housebuilders as they have provided 20% of Tory party funding.
Corruption.

Quick question Ben: do you agree or disagree with the RSPB that the government have lied about not weakening environmental protections?
Resign !
Whatever one thinks of the government’s policy proposals and their record on nature, these tweets are simply not an appropriate contribution to our public discourse from such an important and highly respected organisation. We can strongly disagree and make our case without calling people ‘LIARS!’. As a trustee I have raised this issue urgently with the CEO and Chair, among others.
