Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, his family, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss at Six Flags Over Georgia.
This tragedy has drawn national attention and brought up questions about amusement ride safety. UF HHP senior lecturer @briandavery was able to share his insights as an expert in rollercoaster safety and risk management to a number of national publications including @CNN, @AP , @FoxNews, @BBC, @DailyMail, @CBS, @ABC, and more.🦺Dr. Avery has highlighted important considerations on amusement ride safety regarding the use of protective restraints, advice for riders, and the auditing process of such tragic incidents.

Thrill rides are built to make danger feel controlled. The real question is whether the control systems, operators, maintenance, and guests are all doing their part.
