The liability in construction sits with the construction company. He was clear that isn’t changing.
I think this is the question every vendor should be able to answer in one sentence. Most can’t.
I asked Puneet Raj, CEO of Fieldwire, exactly that. His answer was that AI recommends but never signs off autonomously. Every AI generated output gets labelled as such, and the foreman, supervisor or project manager accepts or rejects it.
What would you keep? I asked the room whether they’d seen more people dictating to their phones on site and roughly half said yes.

He tried to sneak in a fourth. AI clash detection, which he says is already happening on the design side.
Everything else went in the bin. Generative design, digital twins, PPE cameras, drone inspection, real time translation.
I gave the CEO of Fieldwire 10 AI use cases from his own report and told him to keep three.
Puneet Raj kept talking into your phone instead of typing, forms that autofill to a large extent, and AI suggesting schedule changes based on how tasks are actually progressing.
Then ask what they’re doing to stay ahead over the next three years.

“Everybody may know the brand now, but if that software company is not going to innovate, you’re going to buy a legacy solution.”
Eldar Sadikov’s advice for contractors evaluating tech is to make the vendor lay out exactly how your current workflow will change and how fast.

"I think it's also maybe a little bit of an advantage to build from Europe."
Lea, whose Berlin team is building AI for general contractors, sees infrastructure, housing, energy and defence projects all running through Europe's big contractors right now.
Once work flows from the GC down to the subs, what was bought and what was installed goes dark.

Eldar Sadikov’s co-founder had specified materials on high-rise projects in the US, Dubai and Europe, then watched a facade metal get swapped for something else with no way to trace it.
“We don’t even know if all these materials have been utilized at the end of the day in that building.”
Does your company have an AI strategy? Or a productivity strategy? They’re not the same thing.

The reason it matters is adoption. Construction software has a long history of tools that get bought and never used. Adoption in the field and the office is what decides success or failure.
His advice to a mid market contractor was to find the processes causing the most pain today, find a champion, and treat AI as one of the technology bets that might fix them. Then propagate the results from one project to the next.
Nobody needs an AI strategy. Everyone needs a productivity strategy.
That’s the view of Puneet Raj, CEO of Fieldwire, and I think it’s the most useful thing said at the whole event.
Who’s your reverse mentor? If the answer is nobody, that might be worth fixing.
