There's this entire myth that loads of people are faking/exaggerating sickness for some social/financial benefit, but the reality is that most people are actually pretending to be LESS sick than they are because that's what society demands.

No one gets a car for just having food intolerances. Why are these lies allowed to be spread? Does BBC Verify not work with disabled benefits?

Not disabled enough to receive financial aid, disabled enough to be offered death: the new labour party mantra.

disability benefits are not supposed to work for "businesses who need workers", they are supposed to work for disabled people who need to live, you evil fucking prick
We inherited a fundamentally broken welfare system from the previous government. It does not work for the people it is supposed to support, businesses who need workers or taxpayers who foot the bill. This government will always protect the most severely disabled people to live with dignity. But weโ€™re not prepared to stand back and do nothing while millions of people โ€” especially young people โ€” who have potential to work and live independent lives, instead become trapped out of work and abandoned by the system. It would be morally bankrupt to let their life chances waste away. When I talk about opportunity for all, I mean it. Thatโ€™s why we are bringing forward the biggest changes to the welfare system in a generation and improving support for those who need it. Ensuring those who can work do work is not only right, but it will also improve living standards and drive growth, the number one priority in our Plan for Change.

This is a seminal moment: a Labour government cutting disability benefits. Not just continuing Tory levels. Cutting. This comes after a week of speculation, itself an act of cruelty by a government toying with peopleโ€™s dignity. These cuts are disgraceful - and will cost lives.

I had a rare stroke at 17 which left me permanently disabled. Under Liz Kendallโ€™s new reform I wouldnโ€™t be entitled to PIP nor UC purely down to my age. An absolute monstrosity how weโ€™re just going to let them get away with this. Illness doesnโ€™t discriminate!! #DisabilityBenefits

Personally, I love it when the government appoint a rich businessman to determine a disability and not a medical professional with a level of understanding. Really reassuring! Canโ€™t wait to hear what he has to say about complex brain injuries ๐Ÿ˜Œ
The independent Keep Britain Working review led by former John Lewis boss, Sir Charlie Mayfield, has launched today The review will explore how to urgently support people with long-term illnesses or disabilities back into and to stay in work as part of the Plan for Change
