"Colliery Row", a very early Norman Cornish painting from 1947 recently gifted to Northumbria University. A stunning picture.

Hold it there: Sarah Cornish portrayed in so many domestic situations and formal poses throughout their married life. normancornish.com
When you have been waiting HOURS in the Bayeux queue, and your queue page suddenly turns to this, you feel that the @britishmuseum is showing contempt for its customers.
Do you realise how much ill-will you have created by the Bayeux booking disaster, @britishmuseum ? Various friends have said to me they will be cancelling their membership.

Anyone else having severe problems booking Members' tickets for the Bayeux Tapestry? Two friends have waited hours to get to the front of the queue to book, but were then shunted right to the back of the queue, worse than when they started. What is going on, @britishmuseum ?

I have cleaned-up this fabulous Autochrome of the great actress Sarah Bernhardt (1844-1923) dressed as Cleopatra - a role she made her own back in the 1890s. Here she resurrects the character for the Lumiere brothers in 1907.
The portrait was taken in colour 119 years ago and isn't colourised.

Pic taken at Wigmore Hall yesterday. A lady placed flowers below it right after I’d taken the picture.
Spare ticket available for the opening evening of Glyndebourne and of the new production of Tosca this Thursday 21st. Good standing ticket, inexpensive. Free champagne on the lawn! Can I tempt anyone?
RTs would be appreciated.

So very sad at the passing of Dame Felicity Lott - not only a great artist (beloved by Carlos Kleiber, among countless others), but also an adorable, fun-loving, deeply kind-hearted, utterly (sometimes ridiculously!) modest, gloriously warm human being. She will be SO much missed
