Sean Connery’s introduction in DR. NO (1962) became one of cinema’s most iconic moments. Director tweaked the timing of Connery’s lighter flick, letting the smoke clear before the line landed. A small adjustment that helped create movie history.

My quick takeaways on the Anthropic S-1:
1. This is a historical moment
2. $6.6M in revenue per employee!! Hard to even comprehend how good that is but Anthropic is AI native as it gets so makes sense.
3. I always thought OpenAI would drop their S-1 first
4. Customers spend about 9x more after a year. Net Revenue Retention is approximately 900% as of Sep 30, 2026. Good SaaS companies brag about 120%.
5. Cowork is growing faster than Claude Code did. Goes to show you the demand for consumer products. Duo will probably rip.
6. 3 years ago this company did $41M in revenue. In the first six months of 2026, it did $16.3 billion. I don't think anyone has a mental model for that curve yet, I sure don’t.
7. Nearly half of revenue comes through cloud marketplaces. About 48% comes from customers buying through them. Big companies buy where their budget already lives, and the lesson for founders selling to enterprises is to get listed where your buyers already spend.
8. Their run rate formula is published: the last 28 days of usage times 13, plus subscriptions times 12, which i guess is the new ARR math for founders?
9. It looks like They're merging Cowork into Claude dot au which tells you the chat box era is ending and the "go do the work for me" era is here.
10. Thousands of Anthropic employees are about to become liquid at once, so expect the biggest wave of new AI startups and angel checks San Francisco has ever seen. Reminds me when Facebook went public but this is way bigger.
Let’s go!
11. Buried in the filing, Anthropic says the gap between what Claude can do and how widely it's used is one of its biggest growth opportunities, so the company itself is telling you the models are ahead of the market and someone has to close that gap for dentists, landlords, and plumbers.
12. Whatever happens, exciting times to be building in AI.

My father was 19 when he enlisted. Spent the war on a DD. Got bracketed by the Yamamoto just before it turned around in Leyte Gulf. Was taken out of the war in April ‘45 by kimakaze off Okinawa while on picket duty. Returned home and farmed his whole life. Outlived 2 wives and died at 101 2 1/2 years ago. If there are any I’d be surprised. Miss him greatly.

Can't locate a single US Navy survivor from the biggest naval battle of all time, which started today: the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Not one. Not one of the legendary 1,700 Tin Can Sailors. Not one from the entire US naval force. All gone.

Bend, Oregon man who shot and killed a shooter at his daughters' school speaks out, praises female teacher for fighting the shooter, allowing him to have a clear shot.
Kaylub Giamanco says he is haunted by the sound of children pleading for their lives.
He also praised the teacher for grabbing the gunman's weapon, allowing him to take a shot at the shooter.
"I want to recognize [the teacher]. She gave me the opportunity to make my shot without losing my life..."
"I swung the door open, and I stepped in, and I fired, and they dropped to the ground... I looked down at the gunman, and he was scrambling for his weapon. And I looked at him, and I shot him 2 more times..."

I litigate Second Amendment rights. I’m proud to work for @2AFDN in pursuit of that calling. Currently working on a case challenging CA’s laws banning carry (even with a permit) in a long list of “sensitive” places. Since the jurisdiction is CA, that list is overbroad, over-inclusive, and irrational.
Just today, here in Idaho where I live, I’ve carried a firearm into:
A bank,
County building to vote,
State property to pick up ag brochures,
A state liquor store to buy adult beverages,
On to federal property to place items in the U.S. Mail,
And I had lunch at a restaurant that serves alcohol. (I did not partake.)
I am alive, uninjured, safe, and happy.

this has to be the craziest phishing email test in the history of corporate IT security training
The Knicks' assistant coaches did not receive their championship rings during Tuesday's ceremony, despite being handed ring boxes, according to league sources.
Many longtime employees at Madison Square Garden will not receive rings at all, per team sources.
Those employees got their hopes up in late September, when they were sent a fake championship ring offer as part of a phishing test.

One of my favorite stories I heard from people that knew actor Tom Skerritt was when he went to have a meeting with producer Don Simpson about the role of Commander "Viper" Metcalf in TOP GUN, where Simpson admitted he felt Skerritt might not be right for the role because he'd only seen him in performances where he was soft spoken and calm, and wasn't sure he could pull off the commanding role.
Skerritt left, and immediately went to a costume shop in Hollywood, purchased a Navy uniform, and drove right back to Don Simpson's office. Skerritt stormed past his secretary, opened Simpson's door despite the producer already being in another meeting, grabbed him by the collar and slammed him up against a wall. Now inches from Simpson's face, Skerritt said, "You don't know who I am or what I can do," and left.
Five minutes later Skerritt was informed by his agent that he got the part.
Minnesota Angle: Cook County's SCOTUS gun-ban brief has a MN problem. Two, actually.
An intent-based offense becomes support for blanket bans. A preempted city ordinance helps pad the argument for widespread regulation.
Let's check the receipts.

Iran-Contra 2 here (except with Iran-Contra, at least the US got some hostages released. Not clear what we got out of this one.)
