Some of you go to church. And some of you like talking. Some of you are never called on to pray before a meal because those two things mean no one gets to eat before it’s cold. That’s ok. We have a job for you. Host a booth for national adoption month and talk to people all day long. Visit na2.hubs.ly/H07-38v0 for more info.

Now retired and living at Buckner’s Baptist Retirement Community in San Angelo, Patton fondly recalls his days in the rodeo, under the coliseum lights, down in the arena dust, crowds cheering, bulls huffing and kicking in the pen. This National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15) we celebrate the culture, history and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino communities. Buckner International operates in five Latin American countries — Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, and the Dominican Republic — with three of our countries celebrating their independence days this month. We celebrate this beautiful culture that shapes so much of our Buckner International ministry and the communities we serve. Learn more: na2.hubs.ly/H08bSrS0

For every one child raised by relatives in foster care, roughly 19 children are raised by kin outside the foster care system. This means they don’t have access to monthly stipends, free resources, a community of partners, counseling, support groups, and more. At Buckner we go above and beyond to help our kinship families, so we can ensure children thrive. If you are in a situation where you are raising a grandchild, niece, or someone else in the family, let Buckner help. Visit na2.hubs.ly/H07sKfM0 to contact us today.

Single moms are superheroes. They must drop kids off to school, make it to their job on time, organize the calendar, remember the after-school events, take everyone to the doctor, cook dinner, and get everyone in bed. And we all know that’s just half of the day. Finding time for single moms to finish school can feel like an impossible task, but we know education can be the key to generational change.   Visit na2.hubs.ly/H07sgGx0 to learn more about how Buckner helps empower single moms pursuing their education.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 18.4 million children live without a father figure in their homes. Research has shown children with involved dads have greater success in school, are less likely to do drugs, and have fewer behavioral problems. That’s why the Fatherhood EFFECT program is so important; it engages dads in a way that has them thinking about how they can improve their families. Congratulations to David and Carolyn from Beaumont, TX on their kinship grandparent adoption. The two finalized the adoption of two of their grandchildren earlier this month. Kinship care is the care of children by relatives, or in some locations, close family friends are referred to as “fictive kin.” Children who remain with family, in foster care or adoption situations, tend to have a greater sense of belonging and acceptance, which in turn promotes stability. Our team supports families from all walks of life as they go through the kinship care process. To learn more, visit our Kinship Care webpage today: na2.hubs.ly/H07CWv80

Dads, you are the first male influencer in your child's life. Your baby will learn from you throughout his childhood. Parenting can be hard, especially when you are becoming a first-time father. Parenting can also become difficult if you are facing other life challenges that are negatively impacting your family. Buckner is here to help expecting fathers and dads with children up to 17 years old through the Fatherhood EFFECT program. We provide resources, events, and community as dads walk through the highs and lows of fatherhood together. Join other dads in the community and learn how we can raise happy, resilient kids: na2.hubs.ly/H07xgrd0

As children in the foster care system get older, it’s common for their hope of adoption to fade. In Texas, more than 1,000 youth age out of foster care each year. Aging out of the foster care system as a young adult without a support system can lead to addiction, human trafficking and homelessness.  To learn about how you can adopt a teenager fill out the contact form on our website. na2.hubs.ly/H073wkV0

Every parent holds a vision for the future of their family. That vision is not about fixing what is broken, but about strengthening what is already present — the determination to create opportunities that last beyond the present moment. Education is one of the ways families turn that hope into something solid. It offers more than a job today; it opens doors that remain open over time. At Buckner, this understanding shapes how Buckner Family Pathways® is designed and how families are supported as they work toward independence.  Read more about the vision for Family Pathways in the latest edition of Buckner Today.   na2.hubs.ly/H07sg8S0

Kinship care allows children to be placed with relatives after being removed from the home. Kinship care is always the first choice because it is proven that kids have better success rates when they are with people they know. Kinship care also allows foster parents to receive financial help, resources, community, and more so that they can care for the children. So often families walk this road alone. Buckner wants to help empower you so children can remain with their relatives and begin to thrive in a stable, loving environment.   Visit na2.hubs.ly/H07sJYX0 to find out more.

Right now, there are over 500 children over the age of 13 waiting for adoption. These are kids who, by no fault of their own, need a safe place to call home. The statistics are staggering for youth who age out of foster care, but loving families can make a difference. If you’ve ever thought about adoption, consider adopting a teenager. We have virtual information meetings where you can learn more about adoption and our organization.   We promise to walk beside you with counseling, resources, and more as we work together to provide loving homes to deserving kids. To learn about how you can adopt a teenager, fill out the contact form on our website: na2.hubs.ly/H06X1L50
