Louisville, Covington, Florence, could all be hotspots. Straggler cicadas are an interesting phenomenon, cicada researchers at @MountStJosephU are looking for data on them. If you find cicadas in 2022 take a pic for @CicadaSafari or upload to @inaturalist so we can map them out!
Over last weekend I was able to get this video of a paper wasp gathering wood shavings to pulp for the nest she's gonna build! Look at her go!

Getting lots of annual bluegrass weevils #ABW here in KY. In Paris, KY and got 137 adults in soap flushes in 4 sqft. Still in low hundreds for growing degree days and forsythia just hit full gold. Get out and check now rather than wait for the half gold and half green bushes!
I voted for the new common name of Lymantria dispar! We are hoping to do some #extension programming with this pest and I am excited to see what name I will get to use. I hope everyone who can, will take some time to give their input!
#BroodX I can't express how happy it makes me that I can just walk out my back door in the middle of the night and interact with such an amazing entomological event! Be sure to look in your yards and report your findings to Cicada Safari!
I can actually chime in on this if that is okay! This year is Brood X which has been underground for 17 years. The 2008 group is Brood XIV which will be back in 2025. We also expect that group to emerge in heavier numbers here in Fayette Co than Brood X will.
