This is GOLD on so many levels.
My eyes were wet from start to finish. I thought of being little in a big world & watching my son's first tries at this mad game. ESPN's Open to the NHL season is beautiful. I didn't expect to cry today-this is stunning. There's nothing like this sport. We at ESPN love the sport as you do. ❤️ Enjoy.

As of this morning, all cities, towns, and counties that South Metro Fire Rescue serves have entered Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. Please be aware that each city, town, and county may have different restrictions and specific guidelines on what is and is not allowed during a burn ban. Refer to your area's website for further information. We encourage everyone to remain aware of fire danger this holiday weekend. As always, call 911immediately if you see smoke or flames.

FIRE RESTRICTION UPDATE: STAGE 2 NOW IN EFFECT
Because it is hot and dry, fuel moisture levels are extremely low, and high fire danger across the state is putting a massive strain on our emergency responders, Douglas County has officially elevated fire restrictions to Stage 2 for all of unincorporated Douglas County, including Larkspur and Castle Pines.
We understand that moving to Stage 2 right before the 4th of July is incredibly difficult, especially since we all look forward to celebrating this holiday together. However, our first responders have already responded to multiple fires in recent days ignited by fireworks. With multiple wildfires burning across Colorado, our absolute priority must be keeping your families, your homes, and our personnel safe.
Please look out for each other and celebrate responsibly. Compliance with these restrictions is mandatory.
🚫 STRICTLY PROHIBITED:
• Open burning of any kind
• All fireworks (including professional displays)
• Chimineas, portable fireplaces, or patio fire pits
• Campfires at developed campgrounds or picnic areas
• Model rockets
✅ PERMITTED (Under strict guidelines):
• Liquid or gas-fueled stoves, grills, and appliances
• Actively supervised residential charcoal grills (supervised by someone 18+)
• Fires inside permanent fireplaces/wood stoves inside permanent buildings only
Thank you for helping us safeguard the county we all love.
Dive Alert 3, a drowning call, unfortunately we have way too many of these.

On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, paramedics from South Metro Fire Rescue Station 13 rescued a swimmer at Eaglewatch Lake, in Littleton after he became fatigued attempting to swim across the lake.
When paramedics arrived, they found the swimmer approximately 150 to 200 yards from shore, struggling to stay afloat and beginning to slip beneath the surface. With no time to wait, one paramedic entered the water wearing a personal flotation device (PFD) and secured to a rescue rope while his partner remained on shore. With the help of South Suburban Park Rangers and Littleton Police, they safely brought the swimmer back to land, where he was evaluated by paramedics and transported to a local hospital. According to witnesses, the swimmer had been treading water for approximately 20 minutes before crews arrived.
Water Safety Reminder: Even strong swimmers can become exhausted in open water. Always wear a life jacket, know your limits, and never attempt to swim long distances across lakes or reservoirs without proper safety precautions. A life jacket can save your life.
