This is such a leftie take. Just check crime / nationality stats from Denmark. And then take into account that Denmark has one of the strictest policies on migration. The EU immigration is shitshow.
I appreciate @dhh's thoughts, but I disagree on where Europe's problems are, and from where I'm sitting it's not immigration. Thus I wrote a response to his post. dark.ronacher.eu/2026/7/17/l…

This bozo thinks Linus is talking about prompting. Lol.
Linus is spot on. If you're still stuck arguing whether AI is a productive assistance or not, I'm going to assume your data set just hasn't been properly updated yet. Give it another go with open eyes and the answer is undeniable.

It’s 2026. Do you understand and have an engineer independently review your code (apart from autonomous testing)? Do you agree that critical code should be simple, a pleasure for generations to read and maintain? I guess what I am asking is: Are you tigerstyle.dev?

#c Indices are better than pointers. Design your state in a way that minimizes pointer use.

Not that anyone asked, but the country with the World's lowest life expectancy (Chad) has a higher life expectancy than the country with the highest life expectancy 120 yrs ago (Sweden) Think Science (and especially Medicine) has somehow failed you? Think again #ScienceMatters

This is as detached from reality as possible. Unless one lives in a very very small bubble
Cold Take: The Unix Philosophy of Software Design was a failure. Monolithic programs are much better in every regard. The philosophy makes _some_ sense at the level of a procedure, but not at the level of a program.

No. Educate yourself.
The first visual debugger on linux?

Yeah, sure, child.
People who work on actually hard technology are glad that we are leaving C and C++ behind while Gamedev-adjacent people keep saying this. We just discovered a double-free in LMDB (which is supposedly proven software) which only affects @helixdb. Turns out edge cases are important

No coffee break on Nowgrep
Ripgrep is slow. Nowgrep is fast, because I bypass the Windows slop and go straight to NTFS. Here's Ripgrep vs. Nowgrep searching through 300k files on a drive with 2M+. Nowgrep is written from scratch in C99. No borrow checker.

This guy is technically clueless as the next guy. I know he is a startup guy, but this just shows he is a part of the tribe that is responsible for shit tone of bad software being pushed on us.
I met a founder today who said he writes 10,000 lines of code a day now thanks to AI. This is probably the limit case. He's a hotshot programmer, he knows AI tools very well, and he's talking about a 12 hour day. But he's not naive. This is not 10,000 lines of bug-filled crap.

Either this guy wrote half of the assemblers in 70ies or he is full of shit. Weird to make that mistake if one actually wrote assembly.

He is as bad at politics as he is at programming.

That is just a weird take with no software of any important scale written in Rust while C demonstrably scales.
At small scale, individually, it is not super hard to create safe and performant software in C. The problems arise when you have to use other peoples code, work with teammates or when you can't fit the whole codebase in your head. Also known as scale C does not scale. Rust does.

Funny how FP people see themselves as the saviors from OOP, while they are doing copy on write all the time. The absence of mutability is just a stupid concept. The only true way is procedural programming with manual memory management.
