Fact check: True.
Johann Sebastian Bach is the Shakespeare of music. Best there ever was.

Just last night our pastor was illustrating God's ability to keep His promises: "If I promised you $1M, I couldn't keep that promise if I wanted to, but if Elon Musk promised someone $1M he'd easily be able to keep that promise."
Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America. This will be the first of many.

My fren @Musica11235 has challenged @ChatGPT to write a fugue better than a human. His video is a blind test. Can you tell which is written by him, and which is written by “Super” Intelligence? youtu.be/9LjtSS5S7qU?is=DhlS…

If you use Obsidian for RPG's, and you use random tables, and have ever used perchance.org: I've just discovered the "Perhaps" plugin, which lets you program random tables with perchance syntax inside Obsidian: community.obsidian.md/plugin…

Hey, that's my group! The Greenleaf Singers. (I don't attend on Sundays, but I was there singing with them yesterday, and will be the next two weekends).
Yes, there’s some modern silliness (furries), but there is also much at a Renaissance festival that is an unabashed celebration of European heritage.

This is an OD&D post.
There’s always an altar, a tower, and a throne Locate them in any system and you will understand it more deeply

I'm tired of everyone asking, "Why do we need Greenland?" We need it for that 5 army per turn bonus!

Subversion is such a boringly predictable trope employed by spiteful and unimaginative people. There was never any question they would mock the Jesus figure. I'd say I "called it" but you'd have to predate the telegraph to have not called this one.

I had ancestor in his 30's who joined an Ohio volunteer regiment in the ACW. Most I found out is that they marched around in cold, wet weather for 3 months without seeing combat before he was medically discharged. Nine months later, my next ancestor was born.
Post a battle from American history that your ancestors participated in.

BTW, Narnia is not some psychedelic, rock-fueled action fantasy. That treatment might work for something like Elric, maybe? But its willfully missing the tone of Narnia.

One of my occasional side hobbies is music composition. I'm a bit late for the date, but I thought I'd share this short memorial to flight 93, the fourth hijacked aircraft on 9/11 (composed in 2009, forgive the poor samples quality) app.box.com/shared/2q553gc7n…

By some fluke QB & @ChubbyFunsterGC both had vids today abt OSR GMs & lethality. The later is night & day more useful w/ better organization & more concrete actionable info in the 1st minute than the entire half hour of abstract equivocation in the other. youtu.be/_mALtvYgA4g?is

Reminder that the ten foot pole is actually a Real Thing that exists in the (pre-mechanized) Real World and has a number of different uses. xitter.cf/calebhines/status/1805…
The American Agriculturalist (1890) doesn't even mention using it to probe ahead for traps in a dungeon. Lame. But if your PC needs to measure a right angle or build a corn crib, they've gotcha covered.

Dumb Ideas from old-school roleplaying games. 1) bringing a 10-foot pole to poke and prod. JUST USE A SPEAR. It can do everything a 10 foot pole does. If you want to be even more silent, stick a cork on the spear tip. It'll come off easy in a fight. 2) monsters guarding treasure they could have been using. We've all been there. We finally defeat the bad guys and lo and behold they had a +2 sword in a chest. I once had a fight against several 4th level fighters and an evil magic-user. When we finally won, the magic-user had a Wand of Fireballs in his loot, which he'd not used. This is partially the fault of rolling for random treasure after the fact. 3) "trail rations". It's dried fruit, sausage, crackers, and hard cheese. Not some kind of nasty biscuit. 4) Dumb combo monsters that add nothing new. Can we please put owlbears and armadillephants back in the box? They add nothing to the base animals. What can an owlbear do that a bear cannot? What does an armadillephant offer besides "tougher skin" - probably because the creator didn't know that an elephant's skin is already tougher than an armadillo's. 5) Setting spiderwebs on fire. Seriously? I had a player say he was going to take a torch to the spiderwebs, clearly expecting them to burst into flame. Spider silk is protein. It shrivels or melts, and don't burn. (This particularly bugs me because in OD&D, Gary Gygax uses burning spiderwebs as a tactic, and even at the tender age of 18 I knew this wouldn't work, having applied candles to many old thick webs.) What are your favorite and least favorite dumb roleplaying traditions?
