🎃👻 Creating your Halloween costume? Make safety part of the fun! 🧡 Before heading out for trick-or-treating, keep these costume safety tips in mind: 🧵 Avoid long, trailing fabrics. Choose costumes that won’t drag on the ground or cause trips and falls. 👗 Skip loose, flowy designs. Opt for well-fitting outfits that allow for easy movement. 🔥 Choose flame-resistant materials. Candles, jack-o’-lanterns, and other open flames can quickly ignite costumes. 👀 Keep vision clear. Make sure masks, hats, and accessories don’t block your child’s sight. 🚶 Check for safe movement. Ensure costumes fit comfortably so everyone can walk, play, and trick-or-treat safely. 🕯️ Keep a safe distance from open flames. Be mindful of candles and illuminated decorations while celebrating. 🧡 A few simple precautions can help prevent injuries and keep Halloween fun for everyone🎃 Stay spooky, stay safe, and have a happy Halloween. 👻 #CALFIRE #HalloweenSafety #CostumeSafety #SafeHalloween

🍂🔥 DON’T LET COOLER WEATHER FOOL YOU, WILDFIRE SEASON ISN’T OVER! 🔥🍂 Did you know? Fall has historically brought some of California’s largest and most destructive wildfires. Even as temperatures cool, dry vegetation, strong winds, and low humidity can create dangerous wildfire conditions. 🏡 Take a few minutes to protect your home with these important wildfire safety steps: 🌿 Create a 5-foot safety zone Move combustible materials, such as firewood, dead plants, and other flammable items, at least 5 feet away from your home. Keep the area next to your house clear to help reduce the risk of fire spreading to your structure. 🍂 Clear your roof and gutters Remove dry leaves, pine needles, and other debris from your roof, gutters, and eaves. Wind-blown embers can ignite this debris and start a fire on your home. 🔥 Check your vents for ember protection Make sure vents are protected with appropriate, corrosion-resistant, noncombustible metal mesh with openings between 1/16 inch and 1/8 inch, where permitted by applicable codes. Proper ember-resistant vent screening helps reduce the chance of wind-driven embers entering your attic, crawl space, or eaves. ⚠️ Remember, cooler temperatures do not mean the wildfire threat is gone. Wildfires can still spread rapidly when dry fuels, low humidity, and strong winds combine. ✅ Stay prepared. Check your property. Protect your home. Share these tips with your neighbors. Let’s work together to keep our families, homes, and communities safer this fall. 🏡❤️ #CALFIRE #CALFIREDefensiblespace #ReadyForWildfire

✈️🔥 Expanding California’s Aerial Firefighting Fleet 🚁🌲 Wildfire readiness means having the right resources positioned and ready to respond when a fire starts. CAL FIRE is putting its fifth C-130H airtanker into service, strengthening our ability to respond to wildfires and help protect lives, homes, communities, and California’s natural resources. 🏡This marks another major milestone toward CAL FIRE’s planned fleet of seven large capacity airtankers. 🛩️ 🌟 Did you know? California is the first state in the nation to own, operate, and maintain C-130H airtankers for wildfire suppression. Each aircraft can carry up to 4,000 gallons of fire retardant, helping support rapid initial attack on wildland fires. 🔥🛩️📍 A new addition to Paso Robles, with the fifth C-130H entering service, CAL FIRE’s Paso Robles Air Attack Base in San Luis Obispo County will welcome a C-130 airtanker. This strategic placement will enhance rapid response capabilities throughout the region and across California. 💪🚒 📱 Want to see where our aircraft are flying? ✈️ Check out CAL FIRE’s flight tracker. 📲 Download the free AwareCA app to follow aircraft activity, view wildfire incidents, and access emergency information. #CALFIRE #CALFIREAirOps #AwareCA

🔥🔥 What Does “Forward Progress Stopped” Mean? 🚒🧑‍🚒 When firefighters say fire’s forward progress has been stopped, it means crews have stopped the fire from continuing to spread beyond its current boundaries. 🛑🔥But that doesn’t mean the fire is out or fully contained. ⚠️ Firefighters still have important work to do, for example; 🚒 Building and strengthening control lines to help keep the fire from spreading. 💧 Extinguishing hot spots that could reignite or spark new fires. 🔍 Checking the fire’s perimeter for areas where flames could escape control lines. 🌲 Monitoring conditions to reduce the risk of the fire spreading again. 🔥 The bottom line, “Forward progress stopped” is an important milestone in firefighting, but the work isn’t over until crews have addressed the remaining hazards. 👏 Thank you to the firefighters and emergency personnel working hard to protect our communities. #CALFIRE #FireSafety

🐐🐑 Hungry, hardworking, and helping protect communities from wildfire. In Southern California, one landowner is putting 900 goats and sheep to work using funding from a CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention Grant. These four-legged helpers graze on vegetation that can fuel wildfires, helping reduce hazardous fuel loads and lower wildfire risk. As this #ABC7 story highlights, targeted grazing can benefit not only the land but the entire surrounding community. The grant was secured with support from the landowner’s local Fire Safe Council, showing how community partnerships can turn wildfire prevention into action. 🐐🐑 Watch the full story here: youtube.com/watch?v=8rtk4Fr8… Learn more about Fire Safe Councils: cafiresafecouncil.org #CALFIRE #CALFIREOSFM

GRINDERS + DRY VEGETATION = FIRE DANGER ⚠️ Did you know? Sparks from powered grinders have been linked to at least three recent wildfires in California. 🚒 In two cases, arrests have been made in connection with the fires. Starting a fire with a grinder may be considered arson. Before you grind, take these fire safety precautions: 🌿 Choose a safe work area, move grinding operations away from dry grass, leaves, brush, and other flammable materials. Whenever possible, work on a cleared, noncombustible surface. 🧹 Clear the area, if you can’t relocate the work, remove dry vegetation and other combustible materials from the surrounding area. 🧯 Keep firefighting equipment nearby, have water and a fire extinguisher readily available before you begin. 🌬️ Check the conditions, avoid grinding during hot, dry, or windy weather, when sparks can ignite vegetation and spread fire quickly. 🚨 Act immediately, if a fire starts, call 911 immediately. Don’t wait to see if it goes out on its own. ✅ Remember, a few sparks can start a wildfire. Taking a few minutes to prepare your work area can help protect lives, property, and our communities. 📢 Work smart. Prevent fires. Stay safe! #CALFIRE #FireSafety #WildfirePrevention #CaliforniaWildfires less
