Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall send? And who will go for us?' And I said, " Here am I. Send me!

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

Standard or not anything over size 8 (and even that is pushing it) IS plus sized! I do not care if they call it "straight" size or not. Let me hold your hand girl- "She is big. She is plus sized." Acknowledge it. Embrace it.

History will never forget the name Captain Picard.
Thank you for inspiring the Next Generation of explorers. ✨
My first introduction to Patrick Stewart (that I can recall) was as Gurney Halleck in David Lynch’s rendition of Frank Herbert’s Dune. At my 12th birthday party. That was also my introduction to the Dune universe itself. My favorite book of all time.
I always have been optimistic about humanity's future. Always. Even at the most dismaying of times.

I’m heartbroken. Patrick Stewart what can be said about you Captain. I really have no words for this one.
Today is the 60th anniversary of the release date of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we returned to the days when it was aired on basic television where we could all watch together as a nation? Back when we weren’t so divided. Back where we were cohesive Americans and not hyphenated- Americans.
Yet again this coming Saturday on Halloween evening we’ll play this and keep our own tradition going.
One of our Halloween traditions is to play “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!” In our window the neighborhood kids (especially the little ones) usually end up sitting in our front lawn and watch. But this year I’m contemplating playing The Nightmare Before Christmas. Not sure if I should go with the old classic or the new classic

I never thought I’d look good as a blonde. I’m rather partial to my combination of dark hair and light eyes. But I just heard about people dying their hair to match their skin tone. Being the curious individual that I am I thought I’d test a picture to see how I’d look if I were to ever do it myself. Surprisingly enough I like it.

My guess is that women from the south won’t be offended but the women from the north will be. This is similar to the use of the term ma’am. I never hear of it offending southern women. It’s a part of our vernacular. Northern women take it as an insult.
What a wonderful last couple of days. Spent time with my daughter, my future son in law, in laws to be and multiple brides maids and friends celebrating my daughter's upcoming wedding. Started the day with a last minute walk through of the venue and closed out the night with a bridal soirée.
