Edits is coming to desktop. Bigger screen, better timeline, and the one question nobody asks: what does it collect? Every cut you make is signal for the feed. Bet it ships with tracking baked in. @kdenlive @shotcutapp @LosslessCut : free, offline, open source, zero interest in your data.

Google is reading your Drive. Your photos, docs, and files are none of their business. Good news: you can migrate your entire Google Drive to @MEGAprivacy in one click. It’s end-to-end encrypted, so your files are visible to you and no one else — not even Mega.

We're moving from searching for information to asking AI for answers. But those answers can be influenced by people who know how to optimize for them. Maybe the most important AI skill isn't writing better prompts. It's knowing when to question the answer. Do you check AI's sources?

Your TV is watching you watch TV. A security researcher uncovered alarming tracking capabilities in Samsung TVs: audio analysis, screenshots, and AI-powered ad targeting. At what point did buying a product mean surrendering our privacy? #Privacy #SmartTV

We are so accustomed to infinite news feeds that we forget a feed could actually have an end. Imagine opening your sources, reading what interests you, and then seeing: "That’s all for today." No need to go looking for something else to watch.

German court proves that Google is SPYING on us 😡 On Tuesday, a German court ruled that by showing aerial images of a man's private property on Google Earth & Google Maps, the Big Tech company is BREAKING German privacy laws 🚨 This is a win for all of us and our right to privacy because #privacymatters ✊ This is your sign to #degoogle!

For years, the industry has sold us the same story: your privacy is your own responsibility. A court ruling against Meta, a new Canadian code for children, a local-first aggregator... Three developments that all point to the same conclusion: the question is no longer "how to protect yourself," but rather "why you need to protect yourself from them."

Google made a change to their RCS service breaking using it for a small number of users. It's likely in the process of being rolled out and is gradually causing issues for more users. We're already working on resolving it. It isn't caused by the OS update about to move to Stable.

I didn't create Calm Tech Notebook to have a technology that allows me to do everything. I created it because I'm looking for a technology that does what I ask of it, then leaves me alone. #indiedev #calmtech #privacy #privacymatters
