A time-honored – and much-needed – annual tradition: The @SJCI candidates debate, which draws our youth into the political process and sets the stage for constructive, civil discourse. This is a credit to the faculty and students here, and it's an event I never miss.

Good morning, @TonawandaCSD! Happy to share, I've secured $500K for restoration of the sports courts and aud at the middle/high school. These facilities are important to the kids, and they'll be available for the community's use, as well. (P.S. There are now pickleball courts!)

Just toured @falkschool's Sheridan campus, future home of its grades 3-6. Falk School, operated by @CFSBNY, does truly great work, providing 6:1:1 attention for students with learning or emotional challenges. The former St. Andrew's will be bustling with new life come fall '27.

Always good to see my Sheridan Park Fire friends – and that's especially true during this Fire Prevention Week. Their main station open house is a yearly highlight.

Happy 100th, Zonta Club of Kenmore! Its members are such an asset to our community, volunteering their time and talents for the protection and advancement of women's equality and opportunities. It was my pleasure to present to them an Assembly resolution marking this milestone.

Today I celebrated with the @ktufsd $75,000 in new funding I secured for expansion of the sports nutrition program I helped the district roll out in 2022. Healthy after-school snacks for our young athletes + financial relief for families = a winning combination

Delighted to share that I'm once again sponsoring a free performance by @BPOrchestra, starting at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, in Niawanda Park, and featuring the music of Gershwin, Copland, John Williams, and more. Meet me at the bandshell with your lawn chairs and snacks! 🧺⛅️🎶

In this week’s @TheKentonBee 🗞️:

What a great day at the movies, for the kickoff of my and West Herr @RivieraTheatre's summer film series for families. Thanks to all who came out to beat the heat and explore the renovated Riv. Next one is at 1 p.m. July 22, for "Back to the Future." No tickets and free entry!

My Summer Reading Challenge has begun! Elementary-age kids, if you read for 15 minutes a day on 40 days in July and August, I'll reward your excellence with a personalized Assembly certificate. If your child needs a calendar to track their effort, call my office at 716-873-2540.

Met today with COT play advocate Lindsay Dzielski for a discussion around her efforts to promote mandatory school-day recess for NY's students. In an age of screens and solitude, children desperately need play – and Lindsay's work is built on this very idea. Happy to assist.

Have you "scene" this yet? I'm sponsoring a family movie series this summer in partnership with @RivieraTheatre. The first of the four selected films, "The Goonies," is showing at 1 p.m. July 1. There's no cost and no tickets required. (My fellow '80s kids will love the lineup!)

June 19, 1865: The day news reached Galveston that slaves had been freed two months earlier with the Confederates' surrender. In 2026, we still feel the toll of our traumatic past. May #Juneteenth remind us that the good fight wages on, not just for equality, but for humanity.

Such a help to our Tonawanda Fire Department: $200K in the '26 state budget for lifesaving respirators and equipment to decontaminate turnout gear. 🧑‍🚒 @senatorzellner elevated this need in Albany, and it was my honor to help get the line item through in our budget adoption. 🤝

'Tis the season for @Gateway_Harbor_ Concerts! Just helped celebrate opening night with Mayors Strassburg and Tylec, who kindly shared at intermission that my office had the privilege of providing funds for the new stage here. Always happy to support summertime fun on the water!

A big thank-you to Speaker Carl Heastie and @buffalozoo President and CEO Lisa Smith for a fun-filled morning. The Speaker stopped here today on his summer travels across the state, and Lisa treated us to a tour of the zoo, the most notable cultural attraction in the 140th.
