By granting a visa to an aspiring dictator presently under criminal investigation in his home country, the US government has exploded whatever “legal” pretense it has previously used to justify its repressive immigration policies. #Bolsonaro

It’s a false dichotomy which doesn’t deserve an answer other than what you said, liberals and Stalinists are both counter-revolutionary forces and should be treated as such with equal contempt

i repeat, watch as democrats continue to do nothing
this here is basically saying, "vote democrats in office, and then we'll do something about it," which is essentially blackmail
Flavio Bolsonaro, I hear you have never worked a day in your life. Now that Brazil is working to freeze your assets, it appears you now seek to be a leech on the American taxpayer’s dime. That won’t fly here. You see, there’s an election here in a few days, and just like you, the right-wing traitors will see a historic defeat. I feel very confident that Democrats will use their new mandate to defund your new luxury life here, while you await deportation, so we can spend it on more important things, like *our* health care. *Our* children deserve to go to a doctor more than your jet-setting. Then, for the first time ever, you will have to get a job, but if we Americans have it our way, no one will hire you. Your dad’s Trump and Rubio’s grift of the American taxpayer is coming to an end real soon! Your deportation will follow. Enjoy!

Robert Dahl is probably the most classic liberal one could ever imagine. he's definitely not a "leftist" (just a meaninglessness boogeyman term for liberals), and even he recognizes that the US constitution doesn't meet the already low standard of liberal democracy.

There's nothing to address! You have your theory of the Constitution, which has been built out for almost 2 centuries to no avail by leftists, and I and millions of Americans, including predecessors like Frederick Douglass, know what the Constitution actually is, and we're happily living by it.

wtf do you even do with someone who takes the federalist papers seriously? ignore them because they're illiterate?
Replying to @captive_0
The Federalist Papers are considered foundational texts in American political philosophy, not "used toilet paper. While they served a partisan, promotional purpose, their philosophical exploration of governance, separation of powers, & human nature elevates them.
"people's votes change things" is just such an incredibly privileged liberal argument I can't even fathom it.
the whole point of the constitution was to ensure that people's (land-owning men) votes would be inconsequential to the oligarchy.
Replying to @captive_0
The argument that the US is not a democracy is silly. It's not a direct democracy but it is a democracy. How can you tell? People's votes change things.
imagine basing your political ideology on some half-assed propaganda 🤡
people actually think the federalist papers are genuine political theory and it blows my mind
Replying to @captive_0
In Federalist Papers No. 10, a republic is defined as a representative government operating under a constitution that limits what the majority can do. Even if 99% of the population votes to ban free speech, they cannot do it because the Constitution protects the minority.

guy who thinks Rhode Island committed treason by not attending the treasonous constitutional convention 🤡
Replying to @captive_0 @omni_american
Except the articles had no unified condition of treason leaving it to the states.
I will accept the charge of treason to Rhode island. As a new Yorker, I couldn't care less.
what's the mechanism to get rid of the antidemocratic supreme court, shitlib? what's the mechanism to get rid of "state's rights"?
Replying to @captive_0 @omni_american
A strong case can be made that the U.S. Constitution contains a self-correcting democratic mechanism via Article V, which has allowed the nation to systematically address and remedy the exact structural "flaws" identified by Robert Dahl.
