I really try to avoid getting political on here, but this is the transport minister essentially joking about how under pressure he is before going on a talk show 9 days ago. After Adamuz at the start of the year, with today's tragedy, we are probably looking at at least 100 deaths on his watch caused, it seems, by negligence. These people have absolutely no shame. The worst thing is that people from abroad have no idea what a shitshow Spain is politically right now. They don't see this side of the country. It's really sickening how these people are able to somehow hang on to their jobs. I'm going to back to talking about Castellón I promise, but it genuinely makes me very sad when I see stuff like this given the context. Elections can't come soon enough.

Spanish football is genuinely surreal sometimes, and provides some scenes you won’t see anywhere else, because they are, quite honestly, farcical. Andorra are consistently unable to sell out their own stadium. What is odd though, is that almost a thousand Castellón fans made the trip to Andorra as it’s a bank holiday weekend, and only a small handful were able to get tickets in the away end. Andorra refused to sell them tickets, even though they would have made tens of thousands of euros. So what we witnessed was hundreds of Castellón fans looking in on an empty stadium which they would have been in had Andorra been willing to sell them tickets. It’s not just Castellón fans it’s happened to. Real Zaragoza had similar problems last year. Football stadiums are designed to be full. If Gerard Pique can’t figure out how to get locals interested in his team, he should take them to his King’s League arena and have them play there, because compared to today it wouldn’t be much different.

I can't confirm this but I wonder if the fans who tried to bring in a Communist Russia (hammer and sickle) flag to Castalia and were not allowed, are some of the same fans that were upset that the Spanish Flag was displayed on the scoreboard. We'll never know I guess.

I respect your opinion. I normally don't want to make our football games about anything other than football, but i guess I kind of drew the line at young girls getting raped and the government not doing anything about it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just want to add one thing. Loving your country isn’t political. It’s taking pride in where you live, in the people around you, in your history, your traditions, your culture and the things that make your home special. Spain has an extraordinary history and culture, beautiful traditions, incredible cities and towns, and people who care deeply about their communities. You can love Spain simply because it is your home, because you value what generations before you built. The churches and cathedrals, the plazas and old towns, the language and literature, the art, the music, the festivals, the family traditions and local customs. You can be proud of a footballing culture that helped redefine the modern game through possession, movement and technical excellence, and produced one of the greatest national teams ever, dominating an era by winning Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012, before becoming world champions again in 2026. Loving your country simply means appreciating what makes it special, respecting what came before you, and wanting to preserve the best of it for the generations that come next.

hat’s fair. I don’t know your politics, and as a member you have every right to disagree with something that happens at Castalia. But I don’t believe every expression of solidarity is automatically “political.” Sometimes there are things happening to ordinary people that are more important than football, and if showing support for those people makes you uncomfortable, I can’t control that. Ceuta’s courts opened 37 sexual-assault proceedings between July 30 and September 14, involving 39 victims. Fourteen of those victims were girls under the age of 18. Ceuta’s hospital activated its External Catastrophe Plan on July 31, and it remained active into September. Even six weeks after the initial crisis, the special migrant-health operation was still handling roughly 250–330 additional medical cases every 24 hours. More than 72,000 people crossed into Ceuta during the July surge. Spain was forced to deploy more than 1,600 police officers and introduce additional border-security measures. This is not an abstract political debate for the people who live there. It has affected their hospitals, their public services, their security and their everyday lives. Castalia is a football stadium in Spain. We displayed the Spanish flag and a message of support for the people of Ceuta, who could sorely use some support right about now. If that is something you disagree with, that is well within your right. But I’m not going to apologize for showing solidarity with fellow Spaniards who are going through an extraordinarily difficult period, nor do I believe a Spanish football club should have to pretend that what is happening around us does not exist.

#PPO
