Hey @GetSpectrum it should not take 20 minutes for me to cancel internet service. I should be able to conduct the transaction online -- not sit through upsell after upsell when I am trying to cancel a service.

Every decade education picks a new villain. Nation at Risk. TV. NCLB. Video games. Common Core. Social media. Now screens. We wage war, write policy, hold conferences, then move on without addressing the underlying issues that created the problem and a pattern keeps repeating.

Next.js just got its worst vulnerability ever, CVSS 8.6. → affects versions 13.4.13+, 14.x, 15.x, and 16.0.0–16.2.4 → attackers can access your internal services, cloud credentials, API keys, and admin panels → no authentication needed → one crafted request is all it takes → roughly 79,000 instances are exploitable right now → vercel-hosted apps are safe, self-hosted are not upgrade to 15.5.16 or 16.2.5 immediately.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The security fixes for these Next.js vulnerabilities were released in versions 15.5.18 and 16.2.6 on May 7, not the versions recommended here. x.com/nextjs/status/…

The New Yorker asks the wrong question, and enters into the Luddism derby against The Atlantic and The Guardian. "I don’t like A.I., and I am raising my children not to like it....I find myself speaking with my kids about A.I. in the same terms that we might discuss a creepy neighbor" What Will It Take to Get A.I. Out of Schools? newyorker.com/culture/progre…

The flag that Rick Monday rescued 50 years ago today is headed to Cooperstown! OTD in 1976, Monday, a Cubs outfielder and veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, grabbed an American flag from two protesters who had run onto the field at Dodger Stadium and attempted to burn it. Monday, the longtime Dodgers broadcaster who played 19 years in the Major Leagues, was a two-time All-Star and a World Series champion, has often been asked about the moment. “If that’s all you’re ever remembered for, that’s not a bad thing at all,” Monday told MLB Network in 2016. Monday still owns the flag and it will be on loan to the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer as part of America’s 250th birthday celebration. In addition, Monday will be honored on July 25 during induction weekend.

The gap between those using AI as a toy and those using it as a force multiplier is widening every day. Alignment meetings and PowerPoints are the slow death of innovation. Real leverage is built on speed and execution.

Just an FYI you are not going to “solve” or “fix” K-12 education by banning devices. Just like you were never going to “solve” or “fix” K-12 education by adding devices. Most 1-to-1 initiatives were about providing access to those who did not have access. If we chose to use devices as digital pacifiers that was on us, not the kids.

Parents, I’m begging you, read to your children. Get them books. Lots of books. Silly books. Fun books. Chapter books. Anything. Get them to read consistently from 5-18 and they will be light years ahead of their peers when they get to college.
Only 3 in 10 students are proficient in reading and math. Despite decades and trillions spent, outcomes are still falling short. The status quo has failed our students—and this administration is demanding better.

The video uses a montage of images from past events, including 2016 political rallies (like DNC or similar), not the actual anti-ICE protests happening across the US on Jan 10-11, 2026. While the protests are real, these specific images are misleading and not current.

Who remembers when social media wasn't a stream of endless questions designed to create 'engagement'? Yes. I recognize the irony.
