I write about Bayard in the story 'Self Portrait as a Drowned Man,' in 'Walter Benjamin Stares at the Sea' (out now, from @melvillehouse!)
Why is the early French photographer Hippolyte Bayard “far less renowned,” writes Martin Filler, ”than his fellow pioneers? Unsurprisingly, the answer has mainly to do with money.” go.nybooks.com/4blAAoe
Jawbones, theodolites, brioches and puking in the nettles. @MumblinDeafRo and @_KevinBoniface_ making a great team at @WaterstonesMCR this evening.

I worked at @edgehill for 7 great years. They have a wonderful team of writers there, it's a genuinely dynamic inspiring place that does essential work. Gutted to hear of planned redundancies at my old home. Students there set this up. Please sign:

Check out as @Mondyboy reviews new collection by @cdrose_writer (@cdrose.bsky.social): “And it’s this love, infectious in quality, that saw me buy all that Rose has written and why you should get your hands on WALTER BENJAMIN STARES AT THE SEA.” locusmag.com/2024/03/ian-mon…

thought for #IWD2024: the average age of UK first-time motherhood is 29, 30 in EU, 27 US. All those under 30/35/40 age barriers on arts awards/opportunities particularly disadvantage women who still tend to be the primary carers for young children
let's change this (pls RT)
