There can be moments of uncertainty, hospital visits, fatigue, missed opportunities, stigma, and the emotional weight of living with a lifelong condition. Sometimes, the strongest warriors also need someone to ask, “How are you really doing?” This Mental Health Awareness Month, the Uganda Sickle Cell Rescue Foundation stands with sickle cell warriors and their families to remind everyone that mental health matters too. Let’s create safe spaces where warriors can talk about their emotions without fear of judgment. Let’s listen, support, encourage, and remind them that seeking help is not a sign of weakness—it is part of caring for oneself.
