If you believe the last election wasn’t stolen, don’t vote for someone who says the last election was stolen just because you are mad that gasoline is high. Inflation is a terrible but worldwide thing, and your vote can help decide whether American style democracy can survive.

The Inflation Reduction Act has been US Law for but one day and I've already: 1. Heard from one state legislative leader planning to radically accelerate the state's timeline to 100% carbon-free electricity given how much more affordable those goals now are, and...

It is striking how many daily headlines are talking about events that were exacerbated by climate change. Here is just a short rundown from today as an example of the many many ways climate change is affecting us HERE and NOW. Please add any I missed. (Thread)

Feel sick to my stomach after reading the richly reported story by fellow @ucbsoj alum @dgelles about GOP state treasurers colluding with the fossil fuel industry to stymie life-saving climate action.
NEW: Republican treasurers are working with dark money conservative groups to promote fossil fuels and slow efforts to combat climate change. I reviewed +10,000 pages of emails and documents that revealed their tactics, and ties to the oil industry. nytimes.com/2022/08/05/clima…

From @brianschatz "This will be by far the biggest climate action in human history. Nearly $370 billion in tax incentives, grants and other investments in clean energy, clean transportation, energy storage, home electrification, climate-smart agriculture and clean manufacturing"

Whatever else you think about originalism, it is peculiar that the question of whether women have the right to control their own pregnancies depends entirely on texts that not a single woman was allowed to help draft, vote on, or ratify.

If history has taught us anything, it is that poor, Black, Latinx, and Indigenous people will suffer the most from Roe v. Wade being overturned. We must name that.

James Patterson says "you don't see many 52-year-old white males" getting writing contracts these days. This was said in a USA Today interview. USA Today publishes a bestseller list with 150 entries. The day he was quoted, the following white men are on the bestseller list:

Now more than ever, it's important for companies to ramp up their focus on social responsibility. At the #AWS21 @Schwarzenegger spoke to @Apple's VP and environmental director @lisapjackson about the many good reasons for companies to work on the sustainability of their business.

The climate crisis is “the biggest long-term threat facing humanity” and extreme weather caused by climate change is the 2nd most serious short-term risk, @wef says. California wildfires have “increased considerably,” with one study estimating fires will increase by 51% by 2040.

Experiencing all this flooding in NYC right now and thinking about all the politicians who told me that pursuing a Green New Deal to adapt our nat’l infrastructure to climate change is “unrealistic” & “too expensive.” As if doing too little is the responsible, adult thing to do?

A liberal state should follow the Texas lead on restricting abortions via civil suits and bounties but do it for guns. That would be fun.
