The need for privatization of radars and a radar network has never been more glaring. (Red means radar is down) Thank God it’s not a severe situation, however flooding and the need for rainfall rates is bad enough. This will likely go undocumented except for what official observation sights tell us. We need to advance this area of our weather enterprise.

The radars themselves are working, but their data is not being sent out due to a fiber outage, according to the National Weather Service, who says they still have access to the data.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Alabama is on the road Saturday; they take on Kentucky in Lexington (2:30p CT kickoff). The sky will be mostly cloudy, and a few periods of rain are likely during game.... a lightning delay can't be ruled out. Temperatures will be in the low 80s.
Auburn hosts Southern Miss Saturday night at Jordan-Hare (6:45p CT kickoff)... a shower or storm is very possible during the first half of the game. Temperatures will be in the mid 80s at kickoff, dropping into the upper 70s by the final whistle.
Across Alabama UAB, Troy, West Alabama, and Miles have home games Saturday afternoon. For these games temperatures will be in the upper 80s at kickoff, and at each site a passing shower or thunderstorm is possible.
