Still reeling from successfully defending my PhD work yesterday! It feels surreal that this chapter of my MD-PhD training is coming to an end. I am eternally grateful to @DavidMalkin1 and Ran Kafri for supervising me through not one, but two grad degrees.

My lab became my second family and I have made wonderful, lifelong friendships with these wonderful people. I feel so, so lucky. The lab felt like my second home thanks to them.
It was great to have this powerhouse committee yesterday for my defense including the co-discoverer of p53, discoverer of p53 in C. elegans, and discoverer of mutation in TP53 as the underlying genetic cause of LFS. So lucky and grateful 😊

Looking back at the memories made throughout my PhD and deeply feeling just how true this is: “Enjoy the little things in life because one day you`ll look back and realize they were the big things.”

Being in Italy has somehow reactivated my ancestral Italian-speaking genes and I’m more fluent than I have been since I left Italy as a toddler (it was my first language). I always spoke dialect at home, but the proper Italian would often escape me.

This one is extra special because I got to co-lead it with a dear friend @cgiovino. Grad schools full of ups and downs, but these moments and friendships make it feel worth it 🥺💖
Couldn’t have asked for a better person/powerhouse/friend to co-lead this work with! 🥹🩷 excited to finally have our review out

New stage of thesising unlocked: I am so done with writing that I’ve resorted to using the dictation feature on Word to spill my half-formed thoughts onto the page, and then come back to it in the morning when my mind is less jumbled.

Tonight's MD/PhD workshop was on the hidden curriculum, with inspiration from the Eureka Program and @jthlam's MD session on this important topic! Thank you to @cgiovino, @bryanagascon, and @alex_dhaliwal for running this awesome session for your community of trainees!
