This is exactly the kind of entitlement that fuels the perception of a cartel in football. A manager succeeds at a so called “lesser” club, and the conversation immediately shifts to which traditional giant should take him away.
Then people wonder why there’s a sense that ambitious clubs outside the established elite are kept at arm’s length. The assumption is always that the bigger name deserves the best of what the others build.

Excellent way to look at it Adam, we now need all fans to be patient with the younger squad and understand that we are going to hit peaks as well as troughs as the team develops. Let’s show the newcomers that we are all United in fully supporting them.

Happy, if damp, BH Monday people.
Please remember, those working today are doing so for your benefit. Somewhere to go, eat, drink, be safe. How to get there , to enjoy your day off.
Please, just be nice, it won’t hurt you, it will help them.
Thanks.

The average MP is claiming more than £40,000 a year in personal benefits, including for ridiculous things like new phones, electricity, heating and food.
Which everyone has to purchase.
Why don't we talk about this benefit fraud?

Tune into @BBCTwo this Saturday night to watch a whole evening of programming dedicated to Paul's career featuring a collection of performances & best BBC moments, last year’s Bramall Lane concert, 'The Housemartins in London 0 Hull 4' documentary first broadcast in 1987 & more!
Wasn't particularly Eddie in or out. Felt he deserved a bit of time but also could see why he should go. My worry is has the club got a good manager lined up and if not how long will it take to get a replacement
Booked a cottage in Newbiggin by the sea for me, the good lady wife, the 2 boys and 2 dogs! Any recommendations of stuff to see and do there?
Absolutely gutted to hear King Kev has passed away. The 92-93 promotion season is still my favourite season in 50 yrs of supporting the toon #RIPKev #fuckcancer
Might be just as well we missed out. He (and Howe) would get pelters off a section of our fans if he had a few poor games. May well have completely knocked him
Johan Manzambi has so much talent. He might be a rare example of a young midfielder who is so gifted in so many ways that it's difficult to know exactly what kind of player he will become.
That'll be the fun of it at Villa: watching him specialise and acquire a role.
I said the same when it looked like he was going to Newcastle, but he will need some patience. Freiburg to Villa is a very big step to take and you probably wouldn't say that he had outgrown the Bundesliga, either.
Finishing off a great few days. @TheKsUK on Thursday, @paulwellerHQ on Friday, watching England win in the local on Saturday and now chilling with some wine and the fire pit on in the garden

If there's ever an asteroid heading towards earth threatening to wipe out the human race I think we just send Dan Burn out to head the thing back past Jupiter...#NUFC
