Encouraging to see the step up in class when new signings came on tonight to see us through. Massive question marks for Anderson, Reed & ESR though. Nowhere near the levels #FFC

FT: If ever there is a performance to silence the loud noises from the outside then this was it! Defensively solid, could have nicked it & mins for the so called "unhappy" players. A hugely impressive performance from Fulham today! Still work to do but this Arbeloa project just got a shot in the arm. Time to build on this now. 💪 Btw David Affengruber! Line breaking passes, covering the wide areas! What a debut. ⚫⚪#FFC #PremierLeague
A point and clean sheet at Anfield. 👏

"We don’t yet know what solutions Arbeloa has to a glaring problem with his team. What we do know is that he needs to find them quickly or this is a team who are going to ship goals for fun - and that usually has one, trapdoor-related, outcome." A deep dive into AA's defensive setup. ✍️ @jackjcollins fulhamish.co.uk/p/why-arbelo…

I’m not at all sure how you can pin this type of stuff on a system. Just a calamity of individual errors, miscommunication and a bit of misfortune. #ffc

Fulham under Alvaro Arbeloa so far. The positive: Josh King playing with freedom and impact, central and left (beat Richards for Palacios goal). The negatives: the balance is wrong for starters. Fulham may be fun to watch going forward but their defence must be fun to play against. Such a risky, frankly naive system is causing so many problems for midfield and defence. Fulham under Arbeloa are so open, so easy to play through. Experienced players inhabit Fulham’s defence but they look vulnerable in a system that doesn’t give them enough protection wide or centrally, especially as Joachim Andersen isn't the quickest (and caught out by Nketiah). Full-backs pushing up, leaving defence exposed, seven goals conceded. Marco Silva had them far better organised. Too early for managerial change but Arbeloa has to consider changing his approach, making his system more compact, and shielding the defence better. #FFC

Arbeloa needs to play this back 3 system next game or that's the end of the line. #FulhamFC

Fulham fans - for slightly more positive media coverage it’s worth listening to @guardian Football Weekly with @maxrushden. Apparently we will be fine this season #FFC

🚨Tony Khan speaking to talkSPORT - on transfer business: "I'm still looking, and I will still do business in this window absolutely. I am definitely working to do more Fulham business in this transfer window. It's something we will continue to talk about later tonight after (last night's) match." #FFC

Chelsea’s "CoJoMo" attack rightly took all the praise last night. Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers are going to trouble defences far better than Fulham's this season. But Fulham’s attack also impressed. Josh King at 10 was lively, pacey, great on the half-turn, a goal threat. Only 19, and in only his 17th PL start, looks set for a good season. Confidence further enhanced by experience of England’s pre-World Cup training camp in Florida; showing what he can aspire to plus great learning from those there, Kane, Saka etc. Obvious other positive was Gonzalo Garcia on his debut. Spanish international, 22, cost only £34m, poacher’s goal, intensity, intelligent movement, good work-rate out of possession. Fulham’s defence needs strengthening now. #FULCHE

Fulham unlucky not to get something tonight. We rode our luck but so did Chelsea. Nice reminder we have some real talent at the club and have strengthened this summer. One or two more starters this week and we will enjoy watching AA-Ball this season #FFC

No words are big enough right now to overcome this empty feeling in the stomach. We were close, really close to another final but it wasn’t enough. We’ve given everything over these last 7 weeks and to fall short is hard to take! I know the expectations are high and rightly so, we’ve been knocking on the door for 8 years now but again are missing that final piece of the jigsaw! That’s where we have to go away, process it and find a way to get better. I’m so proud of the boys and what we have shown throughout this tournament - some tough games and tough environments that we have overcome. Some memories that will stay with us players and I’m sure you fans for a long long time! Going for glory doesn’t always mean you will get it. You have to fight for it, get knocked down, pick yourself up and go again and that’s what we will do, there’s no other way but to keep believing and keeping pushing. Thank you to every single fan that travelled and showed their support in the stadiums. Thank you to every fan back home for believing in us. Thank you to the boys and staff for everything you have given. As always Win or lose, we learn and go again! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🦁

It’s been a mad 15 years. It’s had everything thrown in there, from the highest highs to the lowest lows (on and off the field 😜). My time was up, and no one was going to be able to make that decision other than me. But in the meantime, I just want to say I ❤️ every single England fan and every single cricket fan who’s supported me over the years. I ❤️ every single person I’ve walked out onto the field with representing England. I could go on and on, but I hope you get the gist of how much I loved doing what I did for 15 years. I’m looking forward to being a fan and supporting the team, and the odd day in hospitality won’t go amiss 🤣. Family, friends, teammates, fans… I ❤️ yas all. Stokesy
