Science communication and short-form content are not the best pair. But it’s definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone to get more creative while staying true to the facts.
‘A lot of creators, me included, moved into that space because it’s where the audience is, not because a 15-second dopamine-optimised video is a good format for teaching mechanisms & nuance in science,’ says Tamara Ewing @chemistte Maria Burke reports: chemistryworld.com/news/loom…

⌬⌬⌬Heterocycles 2025⌬⌬⌬ Coming on April 7 (see attached syllabus)! This year will be a reverse classroom format wherein all new material will be discussed with problem solving sessions including real-world consulting questions. Aspiring drug hunters and seasoned veterans: This content is for you. Please review the 2021 lectures on our YouTube channel (bit.ly/3yYyABB) before attending to maximize learning outcomes. Primary textbook available here: books.apple.com/us/book/the-…. Outside participants are welcome to join over Zoom. As in previous years, those from industry are encouraged to send their problems in advance (after scrubbing IP) for us to solve during class. San Diego locals are welcome to attend in person for free. Please contact this year's TA's Anthony Rodriguez ([email protected]) and Philipp Neigenfind ([email protected]) for the Zoom link and any other questions you may have.

A little excitement and a good mentor go a long way in chemistry!! No experience necessary-- just a willingness to try something new & learn from it; one core tenet of being a good scientist.
You don't need to be a chemist to make C(sp3)-C(sp2) bonds... (video by @chemistte)

I’m happy to share our work on “Electrifying P(V): Access to Polar and Radical Reactivity” which appeared in @ChemRxiv today.
Electrochemical, fully stereoselective P(V)-radical hydrophosphorylation of olefins and carbonyl compounds using a P(V) reagent is disclosed today in @ChemRxiv : chemrxiv.org/engage/chemrxiv…. By strategically selecting the anode material, radical reactivity is accessible for alkene hydrophosphorylation whereas a polar pathway operates for ketone hydrophosphorylation. The mechanistic intricacies of these chemoselective transformations was explored in-depth

You’re telling me good organization & labeling could have saved the day…
Replying to @DrJohnODonoghue
The druggist, Hodgson, was ill so his new assistant was told the daft was in a barrel in the attic. But there were two identical barrels. He sold Archer 5kg of powder from a barrel of arsenic trioxide; only labelled on the base!

We should also consider how easy these rxns are to set-up & how efficient your transformations could be with e-chem! linktr.ee/ikaworldwide #IKAechem #echemfundamentals #synthesis #electrochemistry

Super proud of this work!! Very cool to work on something that became a useful, tangible product. Great to work with the @KULRTech team making this scale-up a reality too 🥰 Feeling really grateful!! #PyC #ikaechem
We are excited to add a new electrode to our collection, a collab w/ @BaranLabReads @KULRTech PyC offers many of the reactivity benefits of other amorphous carbon electrodes but is more durable than RVC and less costly than GC. Paper out today in @angew_chem ⤵️
