It is a mystery to me as to why people dislike @VivekGRamaswamy - after all, he is the poster boy for assimilation - a lawyer who some have accused of financial and other shenanigans - something so typical of what we see in so many "Americans" (I can see people disliking Indians because they are engineers or scientists because in their minds, anyone from India who has advanced degrees has by definition taken a job meant for "americans" - but a LAWYER? C'mon - Vivek fits perfectly - using the kind of strategy Republicans and Democrats have used to attempt to win elections - perfectly assimilated)

brownstone.org/articles/what… Astonishing sequence of events - all the way from October 2019 with what had happened in China that was clearly unusual in what the Chinese authorities did - and Fauci knew something may be up and started preparing for it - hoping it would be just a "bad flu" season - and when that did not happen and the virus sequence was published (and obtained by a researcher in the US) the game was up - Fauci knew it was NOT the "bad flu" - but the novel virus. What is shocking is the extent to which the then establishment went to make sure that there was no chance for people to develop immunity from getting infected - and so to allow for a novel formulation to be used as the elixir - worse, it was clear that the original formulation was NOT as effective against the alpha version but most people were not told - and that some reformulation (so more jab) would take care of it. It was clear very early on from sero prevalence studies in Santa Clara by the "fringe epidemiologist" (@DrJBhattacharya) that the virus was already here and many had antibodies - the response to those studies was furious - and the war began on anyone who dared question the ruling class that was determined to get their way - and we saw the censorship apparatus get into gear and become powerful. I am still not sure why, this time, in 2019/2020 we saw the response (as detailed in the piece) - was it money? was it a desire to use it to thwart Trump? (there is some evidence of that) - Was it to accumulate glory? I mean, was Fauci such a psychopath that he did not care what happened to people as long as he got his way??

Warning about @limebike - the app will allow you to rent it wherever you may find one - even if it was OUT of the service area - and if you return it to the exact location you rented it from, it it was NOT in the service area, you will not be allowed to park there and it will force you to FIND a service area - THAT can be painful and expensive and worse

reason.com/podcast/2026/07/2… Timely - and perhaps a reminder to those enamored of the socialists, communists to remember what the real goals are - degrowth, imposition of total control over people by a few and the spread of misery as the ruling class lives comfortably. (this is a podcast with a founding member (?) of the extinction rebellion - and she reminds us of what their stated goals were and how it contrasted with their real goals. Yes, the environmental movement is not interested in the environment - but about control over people through restrictions on growth and making sure people are and remain miserable - and a lot of this is by very wealthy people living comfortably in the developed world

Anyone figured out the @united app? It seems they make it IMPOSSIBLE to find your boarding pass AFTER you check in This is simply INSANE. Whoever wrote the app ought to be fired After checking in, the passes should be available without going through about a thousand different places and not getting there. And no, I am not a luddite - and yea, I know about apps and programming WTH???

I did it again - so perhaps @united wants every traveller to check in again (and again?) - I did the second time exactly as before and this time it showed up Still - poor coding OR something else that I wish I knew (and no, not a user error much as I wished it was)

reason.com/2025/07/24/did-us… There has been all this talk about how the change in USAID funding will kill millions or who knows BILLIONS or HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OR whatever - In this older piece from 2025, Brown states "Anyone claiming that USAID was the sole source of declining global mortality during the two decades covered by The Lancet study bears a tremendous burden of proof. Yet the study does not provide convincing evidence of any mortality reduction attributable to USAID"

pjmedia.com/tim-o-brien/2026… "This is the politics of envy, and if you study the vast majority of leftist messaging at any time on any topic, envy is a critical component. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that if the Democrats, and the left at large, decided to quit being jealous of the right, the left would die as a movement in less than 24 hours. Envy is the lifeblood of leftist politics, and Musk is merely their latest, biggest, and most convenient target. But it’s worth being reminded that to the left, you are no different than Elon Musk. Let me explain. The left is miserable when you’re happy. It feels entitled to be the only source of your happiness, but it has no desire to make you happy. Rather, it simply wants to control how happy it will allow you to be" Indeed.

The increase in support for collectivism in the highly developed and wealthy nations is alarming. The election of Mayors in NYC, Seattle, Chicago are a reminder that freedom and economic growth cannot be taken for granted. Just about everyone is misunderstanding or misinterpreting these collectivist Mayors - most seem to think that these Mayors are genuinely interested in the lives of those who are struggling to live a good life - that is far from the truth. The primary purpose of collectivists is to destroy as much of private industry (i.e. profit making) as possible even if it may mean the destruction of jobs and the job making machines - their primary purpose is power and exercising it. Do these collectivists not know history? That inflicting ever more higher taxes and burdens on people who already pay a large fraction of taxes has resulted in their leaving - and taking their wealth and creativity with them - impoverishing the places they leave. So these collectivists may indeed know (or imagine) that their ideas for expropriation will not do what they imagine or want - and yet, they do not care. The simple fact is that they know they, the ones without the financial resources of the wealthy have control over the lives of the wealthy in ways that make them giddy with power. "I may not be wealthy, but I can make the wealthy dance to my tunes and come begging to me for favors" Sadly - and often - the wealthy do dance to elements of the ruling class, apologize (implicitly) for their wealth and success and make symbolic gestures and strategic donations that buys them peace - even if it lasts only for a short time. Sadly, we do have many many examples of people who have gotten wealthy through cronyism - they have powerful friends in the government from where they get their special favors. Overall though, it is impossible for a society, system to grow as wealthy as the US has become through cronyism - what we have had is an astonishing collection of amazing individuals who could see way into the future for products and services and devices that have made life better and cheaper for hundreds of millions to billions. We should be celebrating innovators, creators, business builders. I have been incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to come to the US to study - and then teach for many years. I have had an amazing journey and witnessed astonishing changes that have directly and indirectly impacted my life and career. I cannot imagine being anywhere else. There is this obsession with "taxing the rich" - as if the "rich" do not pay taxes - yea, sure, the rich can hire lawyers and take better advantage of whatever the rules are and any loopholes and so on - the fact remains that the "rich" got that way because of what they did with their money - created companies and products for the market and got rewarded through appreciation of the stock in their companies. Further more, those same "rich" employ enormous numbers of people who pay taxes - once on their own income and also through hiring people in their companies. An expanding and innovative economy offers the opportunity for everyone to go up the economic ladder - the earning and wealth of billionaires does not stop the earning and wealth accumulating potential of others. The US is indeed unique in attracting innovators and allowing them to try - and when they succeed we all become wealthy with access to products and services that did not exist before they did what they did. The founders of @amazon and their stockholders getting wealthy has not impoverished me - I now have access to a huge network of manufacturers and their products for delivery to my door step. We are lucky to have an amazing collection of forward thinkers and doers - let them do what they do best - let us step back so we can enjoy the results from the intellectual capital of our billionaires like @JeffBezos, @elonmusk and others. Unknown as the future always is, we can rely on our innovators to make a better future for all of us.

I wonder what awaits me on my next @SouthwestAir flight - normally, on checkin, southwest assigns me a boarding group (and seat) - and nothing this time - curious as to what I can expect -

Found out what it means- if you do not get a boarding position and seat on check in then you are on standby (but the check in does not indicate that) I had to go to the gate agent and got a seat assigned

Unlike other airlines, with @SouthwestAir it seems they will keep you in suspense even if you do have a ticket (I wonder if this may also be some scheme to have people agree to check bags - their revenues go up - so perhaps if you check a bag, you may be assured a seat?)

I wonder which airline can extract a competitive advantage by implementing their own security at big airports and bypass TSA ( yes JSX does that where they fly)

An almost empty flight on @SouthwestAir and passengers all crowded in the middle (lots of open seats) - but crazy software that assigns seat to elicit the most discomfort (must be a feature)

Wow - seat changes were allowed before flight took off …

Democrats may be crazy - and dangerous in they manufacture delusion - and yet the assumption that Republicans are sane and well grounded in reality and will always do the right thing is ALSO delusional - and perhaps dangerous - something @clayandbuck have NO IDEA - Clay and Buck are always singing the praises of the current Ruling class and are blissfully (or malignantly) ignorant of how the current ruling class has infuriated and antagonized many independents and others with how they have responded to Democrat threats and stupidity. Democrats are easily trolled - and it seems the Republicans were also trolled by the protests in what we saw as how force was used against protesters when there were other means to do so. It seems Republicans and talk show hosts do not realize the monopoly of force the US Government has - and so yea, it is incumbent on the US Government to respond logically and with precision and NOT with rage and a show of force when they have all the force they can muster. @AmbassadorRice has already shown her hand - that Democrats will take revenge when they take over (yea, it could happen). Perhaps the Democrats will find a way to increase tax on gasoline nationally (and even if appealed and reversed it will take a year or more to destroy economic growth) - Democrats could decide to nationalize companies they deem "essential" (buying 100% of the stock instead of 10% of Intel) - bullying countries into trade with taxes that keep changing is not a formula for stability and long term planning - and inspite of some public news about this and that investment, the current ruling class is creating chaos on many fronts that will come back to haunt us Keep partying like there is no tomorrow talk show hosts - but tomorrow is coming and will demand revenge - we the people in the middle (not extremes on both sides) will be the ones to suffer.

Thanks @DRsLoungePod for your recent podcast with @NIHDirector_Jay In the world of politics with very low signal to noise, the appointment of Jay was perhaps THE reason (and signal) for changing the ruling class in Washington DC (inspite of the many many things one can disagree with that is going on in the nation now) The assault on science and the scientific process and the demand to obey people with power was perhaps the worst thing that happened - the loss of trust in science and many vaccines with decades of data can be laid at the feet of the tyrants who demanded people do as told AND NOT TO question them. It was good to hear about the changes coming to NIH (perhaps some are already here) - the NIH has played and can continue to play a critical role in our nation's health and well being - it is time to have leaders who think that way and support what will help the mission.
